A Moofish[1] is an enemy in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. These cow and fish hybrids are found swimming in the tree sap of the In the Trees stage, and if the player enters the sap it is in, the Moofish will charge at them horizontally. Moofishes can be defeated either from being jumped on or being hit by a fireball. they might possibly be based the Bitan, a cow-like yōkai with a fish-like body from Japanese mythology.

頭は牛なのに胴体は魚という変な生き物。樹液の中を泳ぎまわり、動きが鈍くなったマリオを恐い顔で追いかける。体は大きいし、ツノもあるけど、そんなに強い敵じゃない。[2]

A strange creature with the head of a cow but the body of a fish. It swims around in the sap and chases Mario, with a fearful look on its face, when he slows down. It has a large body and horns, but it is not a very strong enemy.
