First appearance | Super Mario 3D Land (2011) |
Effect | Lets Tanooki Mario turn into Statue Mario |
Statue Leaves are items found only in Super Mario 3D Land. The Statue Leaf is an alternative version of the Super Leaf, and it resembles a stone carving of that item. Grabbing a Statue Leaf turns Mario or Luigi into his Tanooki or Kitsune form, respectively, with a red or green scarf around his neck. With a Statue Leaf, the Tanooki form regains the ability to transform into a statue (in place of the Ground Pound), thus avoiding enemies (which cannot damage the player) and hazards. This makes this power-up similar to the Tanooki Suit from Super Mario Bros. 3 but without the ability to fly or transform on the ground.
The Statue Leaf replaces the Super Leaf in the special levels, and it first appears in Special 1-1. Statue Leaves are also contained within Deluxe StreetPass Gifts.
