The stomping variant of Chomps are a type of Chain Chomp that appear in Yoshi's Island DS. They bounce up and down in particular areas with a loud bang. Although not as large as other big Chain Chomps such as Shark Chomps and Incoming Chomps, Chomps are larger than the ordinary Chain Chomps in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Some Chomps can jump straight up and down, while others can bounce left and right as well.
In the Island Museum, Chomps are part of the Giant Enemy Exhibit, despite the fact that they are not among the largest enemies in the game. They are prominently featured in the level Rompin', Stompin' Chomps.
