White Raccoon Mario is a special form of Raccoon Mario that Mario and Luigi are able to obtain in New Super Mario Bros. 2. This form is very similar to White Tanooki Mario from Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World, as both forms give the same invincibility, and can be obtained in the exact same way. Unlike in those games, the player can still access the White Raccoon form even after the level or the final boss is beaten.
History
New Super Mario Bros. 2
In New Super Mario Bros. 2, to turn into this form, Mario or Luigi need to obtain an Invincibility Leaf, which is found inside an Assist Block. It gives the player Raccoon Mario's abilities, causes the P-Meter to charge more quickly, allows the player to run and stand on water (like Mini Mario), and grants invincibility for the stage. If Mario or Luigi pick up a Super Star in this form, they will gain that power-up's effects (gaining increasing points and extra lives by running into enemies and a rainbow glow) for its duration.
If the player uses White Raccoon Mario on any stage, the save file's stars will permanently stop shining, the Toad Houses will not pop back up even if all Star Coins and Moon Coins are collected, and any level completed is marked red; however, the player can go back to those stages and complete them normally, which will reverse these effects and make the stars shine again. White Raccoon Mario is also available in the Coin Rush mode as an option to play as. It works the same as in the other modes, except the player has White Raccoon Mario to play as from the start, but will not have a Gold Flower in the Item Storage as the player would have if they had played as normal Mario after completing World 6. The form also disables the + Clocks at the start of each course in the Impossible Pack.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
White Raccoon Mario makes a cameo appearance in one of the Battle Cards in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
