A Smolderin' Stu,[1] also known as a Flaming Goomba,[2] Moe Kuri,[3] and Moe Kauri,[4] is a type of Strollin' Stu that appears in Super Mario Sunshine. It is distinct from a Strollin' Stu due to its ability to be covered in flames yet be apparently unharmed. Mario will catch fire if he touches the flaming enemy. If the flames are removed, its bright red skin becomes a dark charred brown. Smolderin' Stus are very rare, appearing only at Pinna Park in the mission Mecha-Bowser Appears! and Sirena Beach in the mission King Boo Down Below.
Smolderin' Stus can easily be destroyed by a well-aimed squirt of water from F.L.U.D.D. Both Smolderin' Stus and the common Strollin' Stus appear in the King Boo boss fight.
