Statue Leaves are items only found in Super Mario 3D Land. It is an alternative version of the Super Leaf, and resembles a stone carving of that item. Grabbing a Statue Leaf turns Mario or Luigi into his Tanooki or Kitsune form, respectively, with a red or green scarf around his neck. With a Statue Leaf, the Tanooki form regains the ability to transform into a statue (in place of the Ground Pound), thus avoiding enemies (which cannot damage them) and hazards. This makes this power-up similar to the Tanooki Suit from Super Mario Bros. 3, but without the ability to fly or transform on the ground.
This power-up first appears in Special 1-1, replacing the Super Leaf in the Special Worlds' levels thereafter. Deluxe StreetPass Gifts also hold these items.
