They can only be defeated by letting them self-destruct, as they are immune to the hammer. The resulting explosion is used to break any rocks blocking Mario's path, though it deals 15 HP damage to him if he is too close. They are one of the few Paper Macho Soldiers that have no [[King Olly]] sticker.
