A Spooky Mask is an enemy in Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins's Pumpkin Zone. It is a walking hockey mask with a dagger stuck in it. Its attack manner is similar to a Goomba's, although stomping Spooky Masks propel Mario upward (unlike the Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins, which give Mario no extra propulsion upon being jumped on).
Interestingly, new screens of Super Mario Galaxy showcase very similar looking enemies, this time more clearly shown to be Goombas.
