Char-chars are enemies appearing in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They take the appearance of spherical fireballs, and can only be found in the Volcano world, where they appear as a recurring enemy.
Regular Char-chars display a face with a menacing grin and can be seen bouncing on platforms, being harmful if touched directly. However, if the Kongs blow air on one or use a barrel against it, the enemy will instantly disintegrate. Faceless varieties of Char-chars can be encountered as well, and may behave differently. Some either pop out of the lava (thus acting like Lava Bubbles from the Mario games), rain slowly from above, or simply rotate in mid-air. Unlike the regular type, these Char-chars cannot be defeated with an air blow.
