- “From here, you can see that the ocean is a big ring!”
- —Purple Toad, Super Mario Galaxy
The Sea Slide Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. This galaxy, similar to the Loopdeeloop Galaxy, has a band of water flowing through it. However, unlike the Loopdeeloop Galaxy, this galaxy's stretch of water is circular and without a current. This galaxy also has many islands and landmarks, such as a large tree and a lighthouse.
Planets/Areas
Sea Slide Planet
This is the main planet. It consists of a starting island, a lighthouse, a cannon island, a cave area, a water-driven machine, and a mangrove tree. All of this is connected by a large stream of water. The main inhabitants are penguins. They hold races there every once and a while. When Mario first gets there, Guppy is invading the planet, and wrecking havoc. In the first mission, a Sling Star will take the player to a Starshroom where a bird's eye view of the planet can be seen.

Penguru's Island Planet is a small planet inhabited by crabs and Penguru. It floats in the middle of Sea Slide. This planet is only accessed in the Silver Star mission.

This is a big planet that is made of green shrinking platforms. It has a black hole in the center. Mario must collect all the music notes on it to turn the black hole into a Power Star. This planet is identical to the Hurry-Scurry Planet in the Hurry-Scurry Galaxy, except that this one has music notes covering every square, showing, if done, the planet as how it seems when totally cleared.
Starshroom
This red Starshroom that can be accessed by use of a cannon. Pull Stars nearby help the player reach a Silver Star and a 1-Up Mushroom. It can also be accessed via a sling star in the first mission, which is slightly before the point of landing.
Missions
Going After Guppy
Mario starts on a small piece of land holding the Toad Brigade captain and several penguins complaining about Guppy. In order to get the sea back from Guppy, the player must confront him. He challenges the player to get through all eight rings he makes. Once Mario has gone through all eight rings, Guppy sticks to his word, and gives Mario a Power Star.

Faster Than a Speeding Penguin
In this level, the player has to race a group of penguins around the Sea Slide. Shells can be picked up to increase the player's speed. Rings also have the same effect. Obstacles slow the player down. If Mario defeats all the penguins by finishing the race in first place, they reward him with a Power Star.

The Silver Stars of Sea Slide
In this mission, Mario needs to collect five Silver Stars from multiple different points around the galaxy. They are mostly in either high or hard-to-reach places. This is the case with the highest of them, which is located in the sky above a Starshroom that can only be reached by a cannon blast. The most helpful way of finding the stars is by talking to various characters throughout Sea Slide, (including Guppy) who will often give him clues about the location of one of the Silver Stars, and a Purple Penguin hints to Mario that there are no Silver Stars in the sea. Bee Mario is a large help to the player here.

Underwater Cosmic Mario/Luigi Race (Cosmic Comet)
This mission is playable when a Cosmic Comet is in orbit. Mario starts off on an island. After the player takes a few steps Cosmic Mario will appear and then the race starts. As the name of the mission states, the player must jump into the water and race Cosmic Mario to the Star. Shells and rings appear to help speed Mario up. When nearly at the end, Cosmic Mario (not Cosmic Luigi) will exit the water, making it easier for the player.

Purple Coins by the Seaside (Purple Comet)
This level is accessible when a Purple Comet is in orbit. The player will have to collect the 100 Purple Coins scattered around the island. The Bee Mushroom also returns to help out.

Hurry, He's Hungry
The player can access this mission by playing "The Silver Stars of Sea Slide", except this time, player must feed a Hungry Luma 40 Star Bits. Once it is fed, it will transform into a planet exactly like the one in the Hurry-Scurry Galaxy, except this time there are Rainbow Notes on every space. After the player collects all of the notes on the planet, Mario gets a Power Star. The Hungry Luma does not produce a Launch Star after transforming, as the player can access the new planet via the nearby Cannon while avoiding being shot into the black hole in the middle of the planet. Also, the player may use the Bee Mushroom to transform into Bee Mario before entering the Cannon to make the mission easier.

Trivia
- The Purple Coin mission is the only time in this game that the player can see all five of the Toad Brigade's Starshroom spacecraft at once; however, both missions of the Rolling Coaster Galaxy in the sequel feature all five ships as well.
- The large ring of water that comprises most of the Sea Slide Galaxy is in fact contained by a light blue wall-like barrier, as opposed to the water in the Loopdeeloop Galaxy and the Loopdeeswoop Galaxy, which is not surrounded by anything at all. The barrier itself is so close in color to the water that it almost cannot be seen at first glance. The player is able to walk on this barrier.
- In the "Hurry, He's Hungry" mission, the collected Rainbow Notes will play the chromatic scale, as opposed to a Mario theme like they normally would.
- The name of the second mission in this galaxy, "Faster Than a Speeding Penguin", possibly comes from a portion of Superman's phrase, "faster than a speeding bullet".
