A F Bōi is a fireball spirit that Mario encounters in the Pumpkin Zone of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. They are found in the second stage, and float erratically in the sky over certain areas. They are not aggressive, but will harm Mario if he comes into contact with them. They also cannot be destroyed unless Mario obtains a Super Star.
As with many other Pumpkin Zone enemies, F Bōi are based on Japanese folklore, in this instance hitodama, which are lost souls that appear as a ball of fire at night.
