It only comes out of an Invincibility Leaf Block that appears after Mario loses five lives in a level. Touching the leaf turns Mario into White Tanooki Mario, putting Mario into a shining white and golden Tanooki Suit and making him invincible, as the Star also does. But unlike the Star, which only makes Mario invincible for a short period of time, the invincibility lasts for the entire level. If Luigi loses five lives in a level, the Invincibility Leaf Block won't appear.
