The Jumping Piranha Plant ("Propeller Pakkun" in Japan) is a type of Piranha Plant that is not rooted to the ground. They wait in their pipes for prey to approach and then jump high out of the pipe or bushes. In case they miss the prey, they slowly lower, so as to catch the prey on the retaliation. In some cases, they also spit two fireballs.
Jumping Piranha Plants appear only in Super Mario World, although the Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island enemy Hootie the Blue Fish bears resemblance to them. Piranha Pests from Yoshi's Story also share a resemblance to it.
Jumping Pumpkin Plant
Upon the magic of the Special World being released onto Dinosaur Land, Jumping Piranha Plants turn into Jumping Pumpkin Plants. In other words, their buds are sealed by a Jack-o-Lantern. Other than that, they pose no more threat than a Jumping Piranha Plant.
