Flying Shy Guys, (not to be confused with Fly Guys or Sky Guys), first appeared in Yoshi's Story. They are different from Fly Guys (which also appeared in the game) due to the fact that they flew via little helicopters on their backs, as opposed to propellers on their heads like the Fly Guys. The Flying Shy Guy flys around dangling fruit just out of the Baby Yoshi's reach, but can be defeated like any other Shy Guy. The exception is the elite Black Shy Guy, which had its own special characteristics. If the Baby Yoshi manages to eat the fruit from the Flying Shy Guy's hands, the Shy Guy does not stick around and simply flies off-screen.
Flying Shy Guys also appeared in the Yoshi's Story stage, in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and the Yoshi's Island stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They carry food and can be defeated, and when they are defeated, they spin off screen. However, they reappear.
