Mecha Sonic[1] is a robot replica of Sonic, just like Metal Sonic. He makes a brief appearance in the Super Mario franchise within the game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 as a boss in the Tokyo Sky Flight minigame found in the Story Mode and the Game Room.
History
Mecha Sonic first made his appearance in the game Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as the boss the player must defeated before fighting the Death Egg Robot. A similar robot appears also named Mecha Sonic appears in the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and a more distinct robot also named Mecha Sonic appears in Sonic & Knuckles. All of these robots, despite sharing the same name, are all different.
