Monty Mole | |
---|---|
First appearance | Paper Mario (2000) |
Variant of | Monty Mole |
- “Now these Monty Moles dig into the ground and bite my roots! Oh, woe is me!”
- —Petunia, Paper Mario
Monty Moles are found in Flower Fields in Paper Mario. They are green in color and stronger than regular Monty Moles, which appear at Mt. Rugged in the same game. Despite their differences, the two species are both simply called "Monty Moles". However, the Flower Fields variety was given a unique name in Japanese.
Mario encounters these Monty Moles when he goes to see Petunia, who tells him they are digging up the ground where she lives, eating her seeds and biting her roots. At her behest, Mario defeats all the Monty Moles. When they are defeated, they occasionally drop a Honey Syrup. After defeating them all, Mario receives the Magical Bean from Petunia as thanks.
These Monty Moles have a specific weakness to the Hammer Throw attack, which will deal 3 more damage than a normal hammer strike. They are the only enemies in the entire game with this weakness.[1] If Mario or one of his partners attempts to First Strike a Monty Mole before talking to Petunia for the first time, they hide underground and dodge the attack.
