Statue Leaves are items only found in Super Mario 3D Land. It is an alternative version of the Super Leaf, and resembles a stone carving of that item. Grabbing a Statue Leaf turns Mario or Luigi into his Tanooki or Kitsune form, respectively, with a red or green scarf around his neck. With a Statue Leaf, the Tanooki form regains the ability to transform into a statue (in place of the Ground Pound), thus avoiding enemies (which cannot damage them) and hazards. This makes this power-up similar to the Tanooki Suit from Super Mario Bros. 3, but without the ability to fly or transform on the ground.
The Statue Leaf replaces the Super Leaf in the Special World levels, and first appear in Special 1-1. Statue Leafs are also contained within Deluxe StreetPass Gifts.
