Bopapodami are hippopotamus-like "enemies" that appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They only appear in the Forest area of the game in very few levels. They always seem to have a happy expression on their face.
The Bopapodami are minor obstacles that the Kongs must jump on in order to get through gaps the Kongs can't jump across; however, they can only jump on the Bopapodamus a certain amount of times, after which it faints and falls into the abyss, likely taking out the Kongs with it. If the Kongs do not make direct contact with the Bopapodami's head, it will simply swat them away, causing them to fall and lose a life.
Trivia
- While the Bopapodamus is considered an enemy, it can also be seen as a pseudo-Animal Friend, as it helps the player (provided they make contact with their heads).
- They originally were supposed to appear in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze but never made it. According to concept arts they were supposed to float on water surfaces instead of being on poles.
