Honeyhive Galaxy, also known as the Honeyhive Kingdom, is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is full of flowers, Honeycomb Wall‎s, and is inhabited by friendly bees. The kingdom and its bee subjects are ruled by the Queen Bee. Mario will use the Bee Mushroom here for the first time. It is here that the plumber learns how to use the Bee Suit and is now able to fly and stick to honeycombs.

The Honeyhive Galaxy (called the Honeybee Galaxy in prerelease material) is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is the site of the Honeyhive Kingdom that is ruled by the Queen Bee and inhabited by friendly Honeybees. This forest-based galaxy is full of flowers and honey walls. The Bee Mushroom debuts here, transforming Mario into Bee Mario. This is one of the three bee-themed galaxies, the other two being the Honeyclimb Galaxy and Gold Leaf Galaxy. The aforementioned Gold Leaf Galaxy is also a mirror version of this galaxy, except with an autumn environment on the main planet and a few minor changes to the surrounding planets. In early versions of the game, Gold Leaf Galaxy planets could be found in Honeyhive Galaxy and/or vice versa, suggesting that they were originally planned as one larger galaxy.

Planets/Areas
While the galaxy does not return in Super Mario Galaxy 2, the Honeybloom Galaxy and Honeyhop Galaxy share the same bee-themed traits as this galaxy, and the Queen Bee makes a reappearance in the latter. The music theme of the galaxies is a remixed version of the theme playing in this galaxy, with additional instruments.
Starting Planet
The first Planet that Mario always starts on contains many Bees, some Boulders, and, sometimes, Mandibugs. This planet is where the first Bee Mushroom is located. There are also some red flying insects on this planet, as well as large waterfall in the back. The area behind the waterfall is copious with honey all over the floor, with a Launch Star leading to the Flower Planet. There is a treetop here that contains the Toad Brigade and the first Power Star. On the second Mission, Mario can use a Sproutle Vine to reach an area with a Sling Star, leading to a button with a Wiggler around it. Pressing it leads the player to the side of the Starting Planet, an area with boxes on them and a Launch Star leading to the Hat Planets. In Mission three, Queen Bee will be behind the water, asking for Mario's assistance. A Launch Star will then appear, taking the player to the Bugaboom Planet.
<br clear=all>
Flower Planet
The Flower Planet is a planet with many flowers floating in the air all over it. The bottom of the planet is full of lily pads floating in water where Mario can rest from all of his flying as Bee Mario. There are several rock-spitting Electrogoombas all around the lily pads that shoot rocks at Mario and some Piranha Plants all around the edges of the pond. Above the pond are the flowers, to get to them Mario must use a dandelion to launch himself into the air and then fly to the flower. There are many flowers and in the middle of the flowers is one gigantic flower that holds a Launch Star to the Queen Bee Planet. In between the flowers, there are several water fountains which blast water up to try to turn Bee Mario back into Mario.

Queen Bee Planet
History
Super Mario Galaxy
The Planet starts with a honey wall. At the bottom of the wall, there is a bee and a piranha plant. To climb up the wall, Mario must run into it and he will automatically stick. Mario must go up the wall to the very top, it requires one jump and fly period and the rest is climbing. There are some optional jump and fly periods for shortcuts, coins, 1-ups etc. but they are optional so Mario does not have to take them. At the very top of the wall, there is a piranha plant holding down a sproutle, when Mario defeats it, it will release the sproutle which will bring Mario right in fron of Queen Bee. Queen Bee is hovering in the middle of the Queen Bee planet, the Queen Bee Planet is full of water and has a rim of ground going around it. It is possible to stick to queen bee and climb around her.

Starting Planet
Hat Planets
The Hat Planets are two planets which twist around and have many enemies all over them. There are several Piranha Plants on the top hat planet which Mario can defeat for many star bits and coins or for the thrill of defeating them and then he must go to the bottom of the planet. At the bottom of the planet, Mario can jump and land in a ring of star bits on the second planet which contains two wigglers. To defeat a wiggler, Mario must Spin it and then jump on it after it flips over. If Mario does not jump on it in time, it will flip back over and chase Mario full speed and invincible. At the bottom of this planet, there is a Launch star which leads to the Rattle Planet.
The first Planet that Mario visits contains many Honeybees, Ruby Rocks, Slurples, and on occasion Mandibugs. The first Bee Mushroom is located on this planet. There are also Flipbugs on this planet, as well as a large waterfall in the middle. The area behind the waterfall has a lot of honey on the ground which slows Mario down. A Launch Star at the end of this area will lead the player to the Flower Planet. The Toad Brigade and the first Power Star can be found on the top of a large tree here. During the second mission, Mario can use a Sproutle Vine to reach an area with a Sling Star, leading to another area with a button and a Wiggler around it. When Mario presses it, it leads to the side of the starting planet, an area with boxes on them and a Launch Star leading to the Hat Planets. The area can also be reached in other missions with skilled jumps, though the Launch Star is not present. In mission three, the Queen Bee is behind the water, asking for Mario's assistance. A Launch Star appears later on, taking Mario to the Bugaboom Planet.
<br clear=all>
Rattle Planet
The Rattle Planet is, as its name points out, shaped like a rattle. There is a large bulb at the top and an inaccessible stick at the bottom. On the bulb at the top, there are many Piranha Plants, defeating them does not give Mario anything except star bits/coins but it is really easy to defeat them as there is a ? coin nearby which release a Rainbow Star for Mario to get and be super powerful and able to defeat all of the Piranha Plants.
<br clear=all>
Observation Deck
The Observation Deck is a wooden platform with three stories. The star for level two is found here and so is level two's mini-boss. When Mario arrives, there is a swing which can get Mario across this pit which has a trampoline at the bottom of it. If Mario falls into the pit, there is a 6-life mushroom guarded by two mandibugs on the bottom level of the observation deck. There are two trampolines which lead up to the second level of the observation deck which also has two mandibugs and two walls for Mario to jump so that he can get to the third level. In the third level, Mario must Ground Pound a button, avoiding another mandibug, to start the windmill which he can climb up to get to the mini-boss, two mandibugs stacked on top of each other.
<br clear=all>

Bugaboom Planet
There is a group of Star Bits to the immediate right of the starting area that form a large "M", in reference to Mario. There is another group of Star Bits in the Gold Leaf Galaxy that are in the same position as these Star Bits (mirror-wise, of course), which form a large "L", in reference to Luigi.

The Bugaboom Planet is the planet where Bugaboom is fought. When Mario arrives at the planet, there are two platforms before it each with a dandelion and the first with a Bee Mushroom and the second with three coins. Mario must use that Bee Mushroom to get to go up the dandelions and then fly to the next platform. The final planet, the planet where bugaboom is fought, is the biggest of them all and has a gigantic tree in the middle of it. There are several dandelions, honey on the tree and a river of water in the way of scenery on the planet. There is also a Bee Mushroom which will help in the fight against Bugaboom.

Observation Deck
The Observation Deck is a wooden platform with three stories, which only exists in the Trouble on the Tower mission. The mini-boss and Power Star of Trouble on the Tower are found here. Mario must use a swing here to get across the pit. At the bottom of this pit, a trampoline can be found. If Mario falls into the pit, there is a Life Mushroom guarded by two Mandibugs on the bottom level of the observation deck. Two trampolines can be used to get Mario up to the second level, which also has two Mandibugs and two walls for Mario to wall jump, so that he can get to the third level. In the third level, Mario must ground pound a button while avoiding another Mandibug. After doing so, the windmill starts, and helps Mario reach the mini-boss, a Mandibug Stack.

Flower Planet
Bee Mario/Luigi Takes Flight
Mario will begin this level and all others on the largest planet in the Honeyhive Galaxy. Mario needs to follow the path up the hill to a ? Coin, which reveals the game's first Bee Mushroom. The player has to collect the powerup and fly up the nearby ledges. (Do note that the Mushroom is not an absolute necessity at this point, but will help greatly). At the end of the tunnel is a tree stump with a hole in it. The player will have to jump down the hole and slide down the slide. Mario will have to fly and jump across the ledges with honey to reach the Launch Star. If Mario walks on the honey, he will be slowed down and his jumping power is reduced significantly. Mario will land next to a pond filled with lily pads. One of the platforms has a dandelion that Mario can spin up to gain height. The player can use the flower to reach the flower platforms in the air, and Mario will have to carefully fly across them whille avoiding the water jets to reach the Launch Star. Mario will be faced with his first Honey Wall. Mario will have to climb up the wall to reach the pond where the Queen Bee resides. The Queen Bee is complaining about 'a horrible itching plague' (she is covered in Star Chips), so the player will have to fly over to her and climb on her to collect them. Then the player will have to use the Launch Star to end up at the top of a tree on the main planet. The leader of the Toad Brigade will present Mario with a Power Star. After the completion of this mission, Toads will walk around the Comet Observatory, and begin construction of the Starshroom.
This planet contains many floating flower platforms. The bottom of the planet is full of lily pads floating in water that work as landing spots for Bee Mario. Several rock-spitting Octoguys, a Flipbug, and some Piranha Plants reside around the edges of the pond. Mario must reach the spinning flower platforms floating above this planet by using the Banandelions and the Bee Mushroom. In the middle of the floating flower platforms is a gigantic flower platform, above which is a Launch Star that takes Mario to the Queen Bee Planet when used. In between the flower platforms, several fountains are found, which continually blast water into the air and will turn Bee Mario back into Mario if he is hit.

Trouble on the Tower
Tubed Relay Planet
Some enemies from a neighbouring planet, the Mandibugs, have taken residence in the Honeyhive Kingdom, though it is not quite a full-scale invasion. Of course, it is Mario's (or Luigi's) responsibility to put a stop to it! With the aid of a Bee Mushroom, he must climb up the enormous main planet, and traverse a few smaller ones, to end up on the Tower of the Kingdom. To do this Mario will start on the Starting Planet. When Mario begins the starting planet, there will be a 1-up right behind him below ground level and an "M" of Star Bits. Mario must advance up the path past the boulders and ignore the large expanse of space with many enemies from piranha plants to swoopin' poinks.

The Tubed Relay Planet is shaped like a rattle with, as the name suggests - a hollowed out "tubed" tree trunk as the handle. There is also a large bulb at the top. On the bulb at the top, many Piranha Plants are found. Defeating them will give Mario star bits or coins. A ? Coin is found nearby, which releases a Rainbow Star so that Mario can defeat all the Piranha Plants.
Ignoring the enemies, Mario must destroy the second stone on the path to release a sproutle which will bring him to the next part of the planet. In this part, Mario must use the second trampoline, the first will lead to a ? block with star bits in it, to bounce up to a Sling Star which will send him to a platform with a wiggler and a button. Using the button, Mario must ground pound it to open up the next part of the path where he must wall jump to the top of a staircase. At the top, he must wall jump up to wooden boards to a Launch Star. The Launch Star will lead to the Hat Planets where Mario must first face a barrage of Piranha Plants and then of Wigglers. At the end of the second Hat Planet, Mario will find another Spin Star which will take him to the rattle planet. On the rattle planet, there will be several piranha plants, one more wiggler and a ? coin which releases a Rainbow Star. There is a tube for Mario to go through which will take him to the Observation Deck. There, he must defeat several mandibugs and use trampolines to get to a wall jumping platform which he can wall jump up to get to the upper level. In this level, he can ground pound a button, activating a windmill which will take him to the very top where there is a mini boss in the form of two mandibugs stacked on top of each other. Mario must ground pound the one on top and then do the same to the one on the bottom to defeat it and release the Power Star that it was guarding.

{{SMG missions table|sortable=yes
The Mandibug infestation has hit an all-time high, and it seems that to end the invasion, the leader of the Mandibugs, the ferocious Bugaboom, must be defeated. To get to him, Mario begins on the Starting Planet. He must travel through the starting planet, once again, avoiding boulders, swoopin' poinks and piranha plants except this time, there are mandibugs as well. Using a bubble blaster, he must go to the area at the bottom of the waterfall and travel through the tunnel (it has three mandibugs in it) to meet queen bee. It is possible to stop on the other side of the Starting Planet for a 6-life mushroom and some enemies if Mario goes down a pole. Queen Bee will ask Mario to help them and give him a Launch Star so that he can get to the Mandibug Planet.

There are two small platforms before the Mandibug Planet which can help Mario with his dandelion-climbing and flying skills which will come in use during the bugaboom battle. Mario will then land on the Bugaboom Planet. To defeat Bugaboom, Mario must ground pound his back. The first time, Bugaboom just charges at Mario on the ground and Mario only has to use a bee mushroom to get higher than it then ground pound. However, the second time Bugaboom starts flying and Mario must fly up to some honeycombs and stick there until Bugaboom passes or use the dandelions to ground pound his back all the while avoiding the bombs shot out of his stomach. Finally, on the third time, Bugaboom will grow angry and start flying faster and on his side so that Mario cannot defeat him. Mario must use the dandelions with the correct timing to get above him when he is not on his side and ground pound him. If all that is done, Mario will gain a power star from the cracked body of the former boss.

Upon entering this level, a Cosmic doppelganger of Mario or Luigi appears. Mario has to race Cosmic Mario and Luigi must race Cosmic Luigi for the Power Star. If Cosmic Mario or Cosmic Luigi reaches the Power Star first, Mario or Luigi loses a life. As is the case for every Cosmic Comet mission, the Luigi version is much more difficult, as Cosmic Luigi is faster, uses a lot of long jumps and doesn't hang around one area to make a jump. However he makes one vital flaw - getting stuck in the honey floor near the end of the race. To begin the race, at the start, Mario must move forward a few feet. Cosmic Mario will appear and challenge him. They must both charge down the path to the bottom of the waterfall and backflip up the block to get to the top. One more backflip and Mario is in the tunnel which leads to the tube. Ground pounding into the tube speeds up Mario's descent and gives him a headstart at the slide. Once at the bottom of the slide, Mario must backflip once again to get to the area with honey. Running through this area avoiding the honey and the deadly pits, Mario must get to the end where he will see the Power Star.

The Honeyhive's Purple Coins (Purple Comet)
100 Purple Coins have been scattered around the main planet of the Kingdom, and it is up to the Mario brothers to grab them all and save the star. This mission is notorious for being one of the longest stars in the game - a huge amount of exploration is necessary, and it is possible to accidentally die while traveling to the star - the player must be very careful, and make sure to look in every nook and cranny to find every single Coin. Most of the coins are pretty easy to spot, though some are harder to get to then they look, so Mario should only have to travel in a straight line. A good strategy is to clear out an area so that it has no more coins and then move on to the next area. If the player has a player 2, player 2 can help Mario halfway up the hill at the start so that Mario can get two of those three coins.

As Mario Sports Superstars reuses Rosalina's golf animations from Mario Golf: World Tour, the Honeyhive Galaxy reappears during her best post-hole animations.
After rescuing Luigi from the Haunted Mansion of the Ghostly Galaxy, and rescuing him in the Good Egg Galaxy and Battlerock Galaxy, his fourth destination is the Honeyhive Galaxy. Once again, he needs Mario (or the playable Luigi) to rescue him, this time from a 'big, scary bug'. He can be found clinging to a tree in the first mission of the Galaxy. After completing this mission and meeting up with the NPC Luigi in the Comet Observatory, he decides that searching for Power Stars is too scary, and gives up. In this mission, Luigi gives Mario a Power Star. To get to Luigi, Mario must use a Bee Mushroom to fly up the hill at the start of the level into the next area. In that area, he must climb up the thin wooden wall without falling down into the black hole to the top, or use the Bee Mushroom. At the top there is a tree which Luigi is clinging to as he is afraid of the big scary bug. When Mario jumps into him, he will fall and give Mario the Power Star.

Honeybee, Super Mario Galaxy

The Honeyhive Galaxy (called the Honeybee Galaxy[1] in prerelease material) is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy.

History[edit]

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]

Planets/Areas[edit]

Starting Planet[edit]

The title of this section is conjectural; an official name for the section's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an acceptable name is found, then the section should be changed to the new title.

Mario landing on the Starting Planet.

Observation Deck[edit]

The title of this section is conjectural; an official name for the section's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an acceptable name is found, then the section should be changed to the new title.

Flower Planet[edit]

The title of this section is conjectural; an official name for the section's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an acceptable name is found, then the section should be changed to the new title.

Flowerplanet.png

Queen Bee Planet[edit]

The title of this section is conjectural; an official name for the section's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an acceptable name is found, then the section should be changed to the new title.

Honeyhive Galaxy and Queen Bee
The Queen Bee planet.

This planet is what the Honeybees call the "Queen's castle". The Queen Bee and some Honeybees occur here. This planet starts with a honey wall. At the bottom of the wall, a Honeybee and a Piranha Plant can be found. To climb up the wall, Mario must run into it and go upwards. It requires one jump and fly period and the rest is climbing. There are some optional jump and fly periods for shortcuts, coins, 1-Up Mushrooms, etc. At the very top of the wall, a Piranha Plant can be seen holding down a sproutle. When Mario defeats it, it releases the sproutle, which brings Mario right in front of Queen Bee. Queen Bee is hovering in the middle of the Queen Bee planet. The Queen Bee Planet is filled with water and has a rim of ground going around it. It is possible to stick to Queen Bee and climb around her.

Mushroom Twin Planets[edit]

The title of this section is from an official source, but is based on development data such as an internal filename. If an acceptable public name is found, then the section should be changed to the new title.

Honeyhive Galaxy2.png

The Mushroom Twin Planets[2] are two planets which twist around. They have many enemies. Several Piranha Plants are on the top mushroom planet, which Mario can defeat in order to receive star bits and coins. Then he must proceed to the bottom of the planet. Once there, Mario can jump and land in a ring of star bits on the second planet, which contains two Wigglers. At the bottom of this planet, a Launch Star can be found, which leads to the Mushroom Twin planets Planet.

Tubed Relay Planet[edit]

The title of this section is from an official source, but is based on development data such as an internal filename. If an acceptable public name is found, then the section should be changed to the new title.

Honeyhive Galaxy3.png

The Tubed Relay Planet[3] is shaped like a rattle with, as the name suggests - a hollowed out "tubed" tree trunk as the handle. There is also a large bulb at the top. On the bulb at the top, many Piranha Plants are found. Defeating them will give Mario star bits or coins. A ? Coin is found nearby, which releases a Rainbow Star so that Mario can defeat all the Piranha Plants.

Bugaboom Planet[edit]

The title of this section is conjectural; an official name for the section's subject has not been found, so it has been given a fitting title by the editors. If an acceptable name is found, then the section should be changed to the new title.

Honeyhive Galaxy5.png

Bugaboom is fought here. When Mario arrives at the planet, two platforms are found, each one with a Banandelion. The first one also has a Bee Mushroom, and the second platform has three coins. Mario must use the Bee Mushroom to reach the Banandelions and then fly on to the next platform. This planet is large and has a gigantic tree in the middle of it. There are several Banandelions, honey on the tree and a river of water in the way of scenery on the planet.
