Klampons act very similarly to Klaptraps, but are notably bigger and move slower. Klampons attack by repeatedly chomping their jaws while moving back and forth. Diddy and Dixie cannot roll into a Klampon from the side because this injures them; they also turn around to prevent being rolled into from the back. The Kongs can defeat a Klampon by jumping on it, throwing a barrel or crate at it, or using an Animal Friend. In addition, unlike the case with Klaptraps, the Kongs can roll into a Klampon from above, if they roll from a platform higher than a Klampon. When defeated, Klampons have the same defeated voice clips as Klomps as well as many other Kremlings. In the Game Boy Advance version, they are simply mute when defeated.

Klampons sometimes appear alongside their functional opposite, Spinies, who are immune to jump attacks but are vulnerable to frontal attacks. One such example is in Castle Crush, where defeating either enemy may accidentally lead the Kongs to injury from the other one.
Klampons have the same defeated voice clips as Klomps and several other Kremlings in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest only, but are mute in the game's remake.

According to the game's credits, Klampons belong to the "Kremling Kuthroats" enemy class.

Klampons are enemies introduced in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. These blue-skinned, red-spotted, quadrupedal Kremlings with a big head, large jaws, and bulging eyes. Klampons are described in the game's manual as being the bigger brothers of Klaptraps. Similar enemies named Krimps replace Klampons in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest / Donkey Kong Land 2[edit]

Klampons are enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, behaving identically in both games. Klampons attack by repeatedly chomping their jaws while moving back and forth. Diddy and Dixie cannot roll into a Klampon from the side because this injures them, but a Klampon can be defeated from a jump attack, having a barrel or crate thrown at it, from an Animal Friend, or from being rolled into from above. Klampons have a functional opposite, Spinies, which are protected from jumping attacks but are vulnerable to frontal attacks, and the enemies are encountered together in Castle Crush. In the cast roll, Klampons are classified as part of the "Kremling Kuthroats" enemy class.

Klampons have the same defeated voice clips as Klomps and several other Kremlings in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest only, but are mute in the game's remake.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

A Klampon makes a brief cameo in Volume 14 of Super Mario-kun. The last part of the book has a series of comics based on Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, including a 'find the differences' activity between several enemies, including Klampon.

Donkey Konga 2[edit]

Artwork of a Klampon sometimes appears onscreen in "Freestyle Zone" in response to the player hitting the DK Bongos, in Donkey Konga 2.
