The New Year's 2022 Tour was the sixtieth tour of Mario Kart Tour, which began on December 29, 2021, and ended on January 11, 2022. True to its name, the tour commemorated the new year of 2022. This tour featured the debut of Bowser's Castle from Mario Kart 7 as a new classic course, as well as the return and debut of various feline-themed items, including the introduction of Meowser and Cat Rosalina as new drivers. The inclusion of the feline-themed items as part of a New Year's tour may be an allusion to 2022 being the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac. This tour was also the third one after the previous New Year's-themed tours to feature kadomatsu scattered across courses.

This tour concluded the Holiday Celebration event that began in the 2021 Holiday Tour. In addition to keeping the Holiday Challenges, the tour introduced new unique challenges called the New Year's Challenges, featured Pauline as a completion reward on the Tour Multiplayer Challenges, and had better rewards in the Token Shop, such as Dixie Kong, the Banana Master and the Tropical Glider.^[1] During this tour, every day featured either the Coins Aplenty event or the Tokens Aplenty event, with Coins Aplenty gradually upgrading over time and allowing players to receive over 20,000 coins by participating every day, and Tokens Aplenty held on December 31, 2021 (Friday) and January 6, 2022 (Thursday) instead of the Monday schedule.

This tour's Coin Rush course was RMX Rainbow Road 1, which was reused from the Super Mario Kart Tour and the 2021 Paris Tour. The Cat Peach Cup debuted in this tour, marking the first appearance of a cup based on a driver variant. The menu's background featured Bowser's Castle as the landmark for this tour. This tour's trailer featured falling red/white confetti and clouds in a Japanese-style pattern during its opening splash screen.

This was the last tour to feature the seventh set of Expert Challenges, which started in the 2021 Halloween Tour.

Like the April-May 2021 Sydney Tour, the trailer and the social media announcement were released later than the usual time.

Today's Challenge[edit]

Players' most recently used kart and glider are chosen, and favorite and favored ones have extra priority. Opponents are arranged randomly. On day 1 of this tour, players finish a race in RMX Ghost Valley 1R in the Funky Kong Cup using Dixie Kong for a free pipe launch. Starting from day 2, players have to finish a race in the earliest incomplete course that is not in any of the ranked cups using the driver shown on the course's thumbnail every day to obtain the corresponding reward in the table below. Once all of the courses are completed, the courses are selected at random.

-The '''New Year's 2022 Tour''' is the sixtieth tour of ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'', which began on December 29, 2021, and will end on January 11, 2022. True to its name, the tour commemorates the new year of 2022. This tour features the debut of [[3DS Bowser's Castle|Bowser's Castle]] from ''[[Mario Kart 7]]'' as a new [[classic course]], as well as the return and debut of various feline-themed items, including the introduction of [[Meowser]] and [[Cat Mario|Cat Rosalina]] as new drivers. The inclusion of the feline-themed items as part of a New Year's tour may be an allusion to 2022 being the {{wp|Tiger (zodiac)|Year of the Tiger}} in the {{wp|Chinese zodiac}}. This tour is also the third one after the previous [[New Year's Tour|New Year's-]][[New Year's 2021 Tour|themed tours]] to feature [[Kadomatsu]] scattered across courses.
