Mario and Lakilester walking through Flower Fields | |
First appearance | Paper Mario (2000) |
Greater location | Mushroom Kingdom |
Ruler | Wise Wisterwood |
Inhabitants | Amazy Dayzees, Bub-ulbs, Bzzaps!, Crazee Dayzees, Flower Spirits, Monty Moles, Ruff Puffs, Spinies, Lakitus |
The Flower Fields are fields in the northwest area of the Mushroom Kingdom in Paper Mario. It is home to the Flower Spirits and Bub-ulbs and the location of the sixth Star Spirit, Klevar. Mario can enter the Flower Fields by going through a magic door in Minh T.'s garden unlocked by the Magical Seeds. According to the map, the Flower Fields are surrounded by mountains.
When Mario first enters the Flower Fields, it is dark and cloudy with overcast skies due to it being attacked by Huff N. Puff and his minions, which are planning to cover the Flower Fields in clouds. Due to this, the Sun is prevented from shining on the fields, causing the area and its inhabitants to wither.
In Chapter 6, "Dark Days in Flower Fields", the player can explore around Flower Fields, and the player can perform favors for the inhabitants. After talking to the sun in the Sun Tower, a Lakitu attacks Mario. After he is defeated, the Lakitu, who is known as Lakilester, joins Mario's party. After that, Mario grows a beanstalk with the Magical Bean, Fertile Soil and Miracle Water, and he uses it to climb up to Cloudy Climb. After defeating Huff N. Puff and his minions and saving Klevar, Flower Fields returns to its normal state.
Flower Fields has a main hub with three paths on each side leading to various areas. The center hub also contains the vine that leads to Cloudy Climb, Wise Wisterwood, and a flower named Tolielip that gives false information. Flower Fields is also the only area in the game without any form of instant healing.
There are several paths that sprout from the hub.
- Upper left: The Bubble Plant, the Sun in the Sun Tower, and the fight with Lakilester.
- Middle left: The blue flower guard, The Hedge Maze, Rosie, and the Water Stone.
- Lower left: The red flower guard, Posie, her Crystal Tree's Berry and the Fertile Soil, and the Yellow Berry tree.

- "It's a hedge maze. I hope we don't get lost. I'm not very good at mazes. Still, I know you'll get us through all right. You're Mario!"
- "Oh, I love rose gardens! Roses are just the best. Although they do have thorns, don't they? All of the most beautiful flowers have thorns. At least that's what they say."
- "Lily looks happy in her replenishing spring, huh? It's so much more beautiful here when there's water flowing. Do you think this water flows to all parts of Flower Fields? I've heard that this water is absolutely bursting with healthy nutrients."
- "Look, a flower blowing lots of bubbles! Will wonders never cease?"
- "This area is full of flowers. Red flowers, blue flowers, yellow flowers... even orange flowers are blooming. It looks like there are a lot of Lakitus in bloom, too."
- "It's the Sun Tower. This is where the sun comes to rest. Do you think it's waiting here or being forced to stay?"
- "Green, purple and red... the platforms are all different colors. If you jump on them hard, they'll move up and down. We need to figure out the right order to move them in."
- "There are flower patches bordering this path. It looks peaceful, but there are lots of briar patches and enemies around, so be careful."
- "What happened to the wall here? It looks like it collapsed. This place seems very different from the rest of Flower Fields."
- In-game map description:

Trivia[edit]
- Close examination of the Paper Mario map indicates Flower Fields is isolated from the surrounding Mushroom Kingdom by being located atop a massive, remote column of stonework, parts of which can be seen while Mario explores the fields.
