Astro-Lanceurs[1] are enemies in Super Mario Odyssey. Only six ever appear, specifically within the Moon Kingdom and one of its bonus areas. They resemble Mollusque-Lanceur, a boss fought in the Seaside Kingdom. These enemies are large flying silver octopus-like creatures with blue eyes and six arms. Spikes protrude from each arm, though their heads are also harmful. Each Astro-Lanceur wears a glass helmet with a black-colored opening on the front that appears to be some kind of mouth, though it also serves as a cannon. Astro-Lanceurs are always seen floating.

Astro-Lanceurs move slowly, and their direction ignores Mario. It is set depending on the location. Ones on the Moon Kingdom's main map always move in a counterclockwise circle, but the others can move in a circle, move back and forth in a very shallow arc, or not move at all. When they see Mario, they try to stare at him to aim. However, they cannot look at especially high or low angles, and therefore their aim is imperfect. Occasionally, they spit red cone shell projectiles to attack, regardless of if Mario is actually in the sight line. These shells fly directly forward but slowly, exploding on impact. If they fly out into the distance, they vanish without an animation.

The top of an Astro-Lanceur's head bears the outline of a light-blue Ground Pound symbol; it indicates that Mario can defeat this enemy with a Ground Pound. This shatters the helmet and squishes the Astro-Lanceur. Once defeated, the enemy leaves behind eight coins. Astro-Lanceurs do not respawn after being defeated, nor necessarily after the given area is reloaded. The player has to reload the Moon Kingdom, either by leaving and returning or loading the save file.
