Lean, Mean Ravine is a 2-vs.-2 minigame in Mario Party 8. Its name is a pun on the saying "lean, mean machine."
Introduction[edit]
The camera faces both teams of two players in their respective hovercrafts before panning behind them, at which point the screen splits in half (one half per team) and the game begins.
Gameplay[edit]
The Wii Remote is held sideways to play this minigame. Each team of two must attempt to beat the other team to the end of the course while avoiding water jets in the ground that will slow the teams down if hit. The only way to speed up is by going over a ramp. The player steers the hovercraft as one would steer a car. If both players steer in the same direction, the hovercraft will turn sharper.
Ending[edit]
The winning players celebrate on the ending platform, while the losing players, still in their hovercraft, are spun around on a water jet behind them.
Controls[edit]
- Wii Remote: Move left/right
- Buttons: None
In-game text[edit]
- Rules – "Reach the finish line with your hovercraft before the rival team gets there first!"
- Hint – "Race over jumps to shave some time off your run."
