Deep Dark Galaxy is a ghost-type galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, like the Boo's Boneyard Galaxy and the Ghostly Galaxy. The main planet in it has a beach with many Toads and Crabs. There are also Magikoopas near it. The thing that makes it "spooky" is that there is an underwater cavern (it's rather deep and dark, giving the Galaxy its name) filled with ghost ships. There are very few planets aside from the big, main one. Guppy makes his second appearance here.
Deep Dark Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. It is accessible from the Garden and is a ghost-themed beach galaxy, similar to the Bigmouth Galaxy and the Bonefin Galaxy. Its large rocky main planet includes a beach and an underwater cave that leads to a ghost ship. There are only a few other small planets aside from this one. Guppy makes his second appearance here.

This is the main planet of the galaxy. It has a small beach with a few Crabbers, one Starbag and, in the water, a chest with a 1-Up Mushroom. The Toad Brigade often stop here and have installed a cannon, two lawn chairs and an umbrella. In the mission Bubble Blastoff, the cannon is under control by a water Undergrunt Gunner, which must be defeated to gain access to the cannon. Other features include several palm trees and a few coconuts. On the other side of the planet there is a cave with many strange machines situated around an underground lake. The lake takes up much of the planet and is very deep. At the bottom there is a wrecked ship and two rocks shaped like stars. There is a variety of sea life in the lake, including Bloopers, Gringills, Preying Mantas, Urchins, Mines and a Jellyfish. There is a passageway in the lake that surfaces into a cave, where there is a ghost ship inhabited by several Boos. Kamella is fought on this ship twice.
The Ghost Ship Cave Planet is the main planet of the galaxy and serves as the starting planet. In The Underground Ghost Ship, the sky above the planet is orange, in Bubble Blastoff, it is blue, and in Guppy and the Underground Lake, it is clear.

Starting Area
This is a small planet with many Octoguys living on it. It has a Sling Star on the top and a Fire Flower on the bottom. There is a Rainbow Star right in front of the planet that Mario can use to get rid of the Octoguys.
This area is a small beach with a few Crabbers (one of which will give a 1-Up Mushroom when defeated), one Tracks and, in the water, a chest with a 1-Up Mushroom. The Toad Brigade is found here and have installed a Cannon, two lawn chairs and an umbrella. In the mission Bubble Blastoff, the cannon is blocked by a bubble-shooting Undergrunt Gunner, which must be defeated in order to access it. Other features include several palm trees and a few coconuts. There is a cave blocked off by a gate that can be opened if Mario uses his Fireballs from the Fire suit to light the Torches; traversing this cave will lead to the Underground Lake. In Guppy and the Underground Lake, the gate is already open beforehand.

This looks a almost identical to the main planet in the Gateway Galaxy but on a much smaller scale. It also has three Goombas living on it. In addition, there is a small gold screw in the ground where the castle would normally be. When Mario spins this screw, the air inside the planet will start to leak out and the planet will shrink as a result. As it gradually gets smaller and smaller, a large ring of coins encircling the planet will be revealed. It will continue to shrink until it implodes upon itself with a small puff of smoke, after which Mario falls back to the Wooden Planet. This planet can only be accessed by shooting Mario out of a cannon at it from the starting planet.
Past the gate with the torches, there is a cave leading to a lake that has many large moving blocks situated around it. The lake takes up much of the planet and is very deep. At the bottom there is a wrecked ship and two rocks shaped like stars. There is a variety of sea life in the lake, including Bloopers, a Gringill, Jammyfish, Urchins, Mikey Mines and a Jam-o'-War. A tunnel to the side leads to the Ghost Ship Cave. In the mission Guppy and the Underground Lake, Mario must head here to meet Guppy. There is a fortress above the lake that can only be scaled with the Ice Flower to freeze the fountains in Bubble Blastoff.

There is a glitch that can be used on this planet which allows Mario go inside the house with the blue roof.

This is a big glass planet with three tennis balls and a watermelon inside it. There is also a Nut-like Sentry Beam here that sends shockwaves around the planet. Mario must avoid the shockwaves and Ground Pound the tennis balls into the watermelon to get the Power Star.
The Scale Down Relay Planet looks almost identical to the starting planet in the Gateway Galaxy but on a much smaller scale, complete with the clouds in the background disappearing so that it looks identical to Gateway's.
Due to a glitch, the player can enter the house with the blue roof. To do so, the player should crouch and enter the door of the house (achieved by holding down wii and walking into the doorway). Mario/Luigi should now be inside the house. Using first-person mode, the player can see the basic virtual design of the house as well as the coins that are hidden inside the planet. The house's walls are not visible from the inside due to back-face culling, so to leave the house, Mario/Luigi simply has to walk out.

Mario begins on an island with the Toad Brigade already exploring it (They are on a "vacation" although they claim they are searching for Power Stars). The player must jump into the cannon on the center of the island. The player must make sure to point the cursor at the Rainbow Star which will give Mario invincibility to help defeat the many Octoguys. After they are beat, the player must grab the Fire Flower and use the Sling Star to go back to the island. The player should light both urns. Once Mario opens the gate, the player must travel into the cave and must dive into the body of water. Mario must swim deep into the water and the player will find a lever. Mario must Spin to open the gate. The player must swim to the surface. Mario will find a ghost ship surrounded by Boos. The player should go on the ghost ship to fight Kamella. Once Mario defeats Kamella, the player gets a Power Star.

The Teresa Room Planet is a large purple box-shaped planet with golden tubes coming out of its sides. It is located behind the main planet. Mario enters this planet by launching through an opening on the bottom. Inside, there is a Gravity Arrow on the wall opposite to the camera; this arrow rotates 90 degrees clockwise when spun, causing the gravity to change. There is also a Ground Urchin and a Boo containing a Power Star here. The ceiling is covered with water so that it rains inside the box. Mario must defeat the Boo to get its star, which can be done by destroying the crystal on the right wall of the room and luring it into the beam of light. This is the area for Deep Dark Galaxy's secret Power Star.

Mario must defeat the Undergrunt Gunner by spinning coconuts into him or ground pounding the cockpit. Then he will have to get the fire flower from the wooden planet, like the first mission and light three torches to make an Ice Flower appear. Then the player must go across the lake and go to an area full of obstacles, then Mario will have to use a Water Shooter to get to the Cheep-Cheep planet. Once the player activates the Water Shooter, they must use it to go to a transparent planet that has a watermelon and tennis balls inside it. Mario must ground pound the tennis balls into the watermelon three times to make it grow and break the glass, and reveal a Power Star that was inside it. However, there are shocking force fields that are generated to make this task hard.

The "Interlude" theme plays in the starting area and stops playing when Mario enters the cave leading to the Underground Lake. From that point onward, a foreboding theme, named after the galaxy and identical to the song playing in the Bigmouth Galaxy, plays. In Bubble Blastoff, the music switches to "Space Fantasy" when Mario reaches the Pukupuku Gambol Planet. ==Trivia==
Trivia
*This galaxy is similarly named to an area in the SNES game EarthBound, called the Deep Darkness. A similar situation applies to the Dusty Dune Galaxy.

*The Underground room, accessible via a warp pipe at the top of the main planet is viewable from the beach. This is easier to view on the third star, as the cannon is missing. Standing where the cannon once was, looking just right of the smaller version of the starting planet, there will be a weird box like object at a very far distance. Flying there via hacking reveals the object to actually be the room the player needs a warp pipe to access, but the purple background is only viewable when Mario or Luigi is really close to the room encircling the room as a sphere. There is no way this room could be the Boo Box, as the Boo Box can be seen close to the planet from an area in the 2nd mission. It's revealed that all galaxies with a underground room have this kind of planet in the sky, with some more well hidden then others.

Planets/Areas[edit]

Ghost Ship Cave Planet[edit]

The Ghost Ship Cave Planet.

The Ghost Ship Cave Planet[1] is the main planet of the galaxy and serves as the starting planet. In The Underground Ghost Ship, the sky above the planet is orange, in Bubble Blastoff, it is blue, and in Guppy and the Underground Lake, it is clear.

Starting Area[edit]

Mario lands at the Starting Area's beach.

Underground Lake[edit]

The fortress on the planet.

Ghost Ship Cave[edit]

There is a passageway in the lake that surfaces into a cave, where there is a ghost ship inhabited by several Boos. Kamella is fought on this ship twice. Both Prankster Comet missions take place here.

Relay Planet E[edit]

Relay Planet E[2] is a small planet with many Octoguys. It has a Sling Star on the top and a Fire Flower on the bottom. There is a Rainbow Star floating in front of the planet that Mario can use to defeat the Octoguys.

Scale Down Relay Planet[edit]

The Scale Down Relay Planet[3] looks almost identical to the starting planet in the Gateway Galaxy but on a much smaller scale, complete with the clouds in the background disappearing so that it looks identical to Gateway's. It also has three Goombas on it. In addition, there is a gold screw in the ground where the castle would normally be. When Mario spins this screw, the air inside the planet will start to leak out and the planet will shrink as a result. As it gradually gets smaller and smaller, a large ring of coins encircling the planet will be revealed. It will continue to shrink until it disappears with a small puff of smoke, after which Mario falls back to the Relay Planet E. This planet can only be accessed by shooting Mario out of a cannon at it from the starting planet.

Due to a glitch, the player can enter the house with the blue roof. To do so, the player should crouch and enter the door of the house (achieved by holding down Nunchuk Z Button and walking into the doorway). Mario/Luigi should now be inside the house. Using first-person mode, the player can see the basic virtual design of the house as well as the coins that are hidden inside the planet. The house's walls are not visible from the inside due to back-face culling, so to leave the house, Mario/Luigi simply has to walk out.

Pukupuku Gambol Planet[edit]

Pukupuku Gambol Planet[4] is a tiny planet with some Cheep Cheeps bouncing around it. It has a grass and water area with wooden plugs. Mario must pound the plugs to activate a Water Shooter, which launches him to the Marble Planet.

Marble Planet[edit]

The Marble Planet[5] is a big glass planet with three tennis balls and a watermelon inside it. There is also a nut-type Ball Beamer here that sends shockwaves around the planet. Mario must avoid the shockwaves and Ground Pound the tennis balls into the watermelon to get the Power Star.

Teresa Room Planet[edit]

The Teresa Room Planet as viewed from the outside.

The Teresa Room Planet[6] is a large purple box-shaped planet with golden tubes coming out of its sides.

This planet actually has two different models. When viewed from somewhere else, it is darker and is also spinning. However, when Mario is actually being launched toward the planet, it looks brighter and is stationary.

Music[edit]

The "Interlude" theme plays in the starting area and stops playing when Mario enters the cave leading to the Underground Lake. From that point onward, a foreboding theme, named after the galaxy and identical to the song playing in the Bigmouth Galaxy, plays. In Bubble Blastoff, the music switches to "Space Fantasy" when Mario reaches the Pukupuku Gambol Planet. During Boo in a Box when Mario reaches the inside of the Teresa Room Planet, "Waltz of the Boos" plays.
