Template:GBoss-infobox Kingfin is a boss in Super Mario Galaxy. It is a giant skeletal shark, living in the Bonefin Galaxy.
Kingfin can summon robotic fishes from the craters in the planet, that work the same way as Torpedo Teds, chasing Mario down from all directions. The more damage Kingfin takes, the more robotic fishes it will summon to attack Mario.
Kingfin appears to be a gigantic fish made completely of bones. It resembles a Fishbone and the bones are disappearing in parts of its body and it's teeth are extremely long.
Battle
This battle practices using shells. When Mario goes into the waters of Kingfin's planet, it will appear with two robotic fishes that track Mario down and take away one health. Mario and Luigi cannot defeat these robotic fishes; they must simply avoid them. If Mario touches Kingfin, he will lose a health. The only way to defeat Kingfin is to grab one of the green or red shells on the floor of the planet and throw it at Kingfin. Once Kingfin is hit five times with shells, he will explode and release a Power Star.
Trivia
- Kingfins's name is a pun on the word "kingpin," which means: "The most important person in an undertaking or organization".
- In an issue of Nintendo Power, and in the Prima Game Guide book, he is mistakenly called "the Bonefin". This is probably due to the fact that it's called "Bonefin Galaxy" as well.
- The theme music in the battle with Kingfin is the same with Bouldergeist. However, when Mario or Luigi come closer to Kingfin, a Hip-Hop background percussion beat starts.
- Although Kingfin looks like a skeletal shark, sharks don't have skeletons in the real world; they are cartilaginous.
- Kingfin is the only boss in Super Mario Galaxy that appears in a bonus galaxy.
- Kingfin is the boss with the second largest amount of lives in Super Mario Galaxy with a total of five. Bowser from Bowser's Galaxy Reactor has 9, being the boss with the largest lives in the game.
