Puzzle Pillars is a one- or two-player minigame at the Extras Zone in Mario Party 8.

Overview

The minigame opens with blocks of various colors falling into a building.

Players try to match identically colored blocks, making them disappear and earning them points, of which they try to achieve as much as they can before time is up. Blocks can be selected and rotated vertically. There are also Bullet Bill blocks to clear, but if not done quickly enough, the player loses five seconds. The next level starts upon achieving a number of points. There are Bob-omb blocks in certain levels that explode, clearing any blocks nearby. After either time runs out or the player makes it to Level 50, the minigame ends, but in the former case, the player can resume, but with 1,000 fewer points. There are coins or Amps on blocks exclusively in two-player, adding coins and stunning players, respectively. The player with the highest score in two-player version when time is up wins, though if it is the same, it is a tie.

The ending of the two-player version shows the winning and losing players doing their respective poses, or their losing poses if it is a tie. If the player gets to Level 50 in single-player mode, "Congratulations" is displayed as they doing their winning pose, as well as the "Congratulations" music theme unique to the minigame.

Puzzle Pillars costs 50 Carnival Cards to buy at the Fun Bazaar.
