Haunted Holes[1] are obstacles that appear only in Choco-Ghost House in Super Mario World. They are holes in the floor that move back and forth within a small area, functioning as mobile bottomless pits. One Haunted Hole passes under a door, which can only be entered during the periods where it is not floating above the hole.

Notes
- The Haunted Holes' visual effect is not achieved by removing the floor – instead, the floor is covered up with a solid black portion of the Haunted Holes' sprite, which exactly matches the background behind them.[4]
