A Sling Pod is an object in Super Mario Galaxy. Being alternatives to Launch Stars, Sling Pods are sticky, rubbery, white wobbly balls of web that can easily entrap Mario, Luigi, and Toads. Sling Pods are first seen in the pathway to Tarantox in the Space Junk Galaxy, and their most prominent appearance is in the Sling Pod Galaxy.

To use a Sling Pod, Mario must jump into or be near the sticky orb on the top and get stuck in it. With the Star Pointer, the player must then grab on to the top part and hold down A Button, dragging it far to the side of the area. After the player lets it go, the Sling Pod sends Mario flying out of it in the direction it was aimed. A noise begins sounding if the player ends up pointing offscreen while holding on to the Sling Pod.
