No. 48[1] (also formatted as No.48)[2] is an enemy in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. Only one of these robotic creatures appears in the first stage of the Space Zone. No. 48 impedes Mario's progress by opening up and throwing explosive stars at him. However, it can be defeated with a simple stomp or a fireball. No. 48's behavior of jumping while throwing an arcing projectile is comparable to the behavior of Hammer Bros. It arrived with Tatanga,[3] and it apparently comes from the same homeworld.[4][5]
