A star[1] is an enemy in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. They are encountered in the star stage mainly, but one star also appears at the end of the secret level of the Space Zone. Stars are treated more like obstacles than enemies. They can be found in clusters forming an impassable wall, and they are sometimes found moving back and forth in space. Stars are the only enemies in the game that cannot be defeated, even with the help of a Super Star. Stars share a version of the Starman artwork from Super Mario Bros. and are depicted as smiling, in contrast with their in-game frowning expressions.
