Nail Call is Mona's boss game in the Strange folder in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!, and later returns as her boss game in WarioWare Gold. The name is a pun on the phrase "Mail call."

Gameplay

A nail falls into a board and is held down by a man known as Shop Teacher. A hammer moves back and forth above the nail. The player must press the A Button button when the hammer is directly over the nail to hammer it down. If the player hits the edge of the nail, the head will bend. If this happens again in the same direction, the game will be lost; however, if it happens on the opposite side, the nail will be fixed. If the A Button button is pressed when the hammer is too far to the left or right, it will strike Shop Teacher’s hand, hurting him and causing the player to lose. If the player waits too long, Shop Teacher gets impatient and starts counting down from three. When he reaches zero, the player loses the microgame.

  • 1st level difficulty: It requires six hits to hammer the nail down completely.
  • 2nd level difficulty: It requires eight hits to hammer the nail down completely.
  • 3rd level difficulty: It requires ten hits to hammer the nail down completely, and the nail head starts out bent.

WarioWare Gold

Additionally, the hammer is higher for each level of difficulty:

  • 1st level difficulty: The hammer is at the middle-top of the touch screen.
  • 2nd level difficulty: The hammer is at the top of the touch screen.
  • 3rd level difficulty: The hammer is at the bottom of the upper screen.

Mission

  • Hammer Hog: The player has to hit the nail on the head at an angle 10 times.

Trivia

  • In the Japanese version of WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!, the microgame has a dark red background, while the international versions use a black one instead. Interestingly, the hand and space underneath the nail are black despite the background being different. In WarioWare Gold, all versions use the black background.
  • In WarioWare Gold, the man can be seen in the instructions for the extra game mode Cruise Controls.
  • In WarioWare Gold, Shop Teacher speaks in a text-to-speech voice similar to the one used in Game & Wario souvenirs and Tomodachi Life.
  • The WarioWare Gold version uses the Pop Happiness font known from Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy.
