History[edit]

This Toad is first found bawling in an enclosed garden at Hither Thither Hill. He explains that, while walking around in the area, he got lost and was surrounded by enemies. He asks Mario to escort him back to Decalburg. He will follow Mario throughout most of the rest of the area, but refuses to jump great distances and also cannot come in contact with enemies; if either happens, the Toad will return to his starting location. Once safely escorted back to Decalburg, the crybaby Toad will thank Mario and ask him to visit his house, which is the middle one out of the group of three houses east of the fountain and south of the festival grounds. When visited in his house, the crybaby Toad will reward Mario with a Mushroom, and will also reveal that he heard a phrase he had trouble understanding from some Goombas near the windmill. The phrase is actually "4123", the code Mario must enter inside the windmill to unveil a hidden Warp Pipe needed to reach the Big Buzzy Beetle. The crybaby Toad then remains in his house for the rest of the game.
