In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the Gold Card is one of the various cards that Mario receives from doing Frankie's trouble at the Trouble Center. After obtaining it, he can play the "Tube Mode" mini-game at Pianta Parlor as well as to be able to trade several items there.

In Super Paper Mario, the Golden Card grants access the secret mini-game called Hammer Whacker at the arcade. The Golden Card is found in a hidden room in The Overthere bar in Flopside. Mario can access this room by flipping into 3-D and walking past the wall that is by Carson. Mario and friends can then find the Golden Card (as well as a Cooking Disk) in a treasure chest.
