A Mistake is an item found in the Paper Mario series. The item is created when Mario mixes ingredients that do not result in an applicable recipe. A Mistake heals only 1 HP and 1 FP. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario, the Mistake counts towards finding all the recipes.

Mistakes sell for 5 coins in the item shop in Boo's Mansion and 20 coins in the item shop in Bowser's Castle in Paper Mario, 3 coins in the item shop in Twilight Town in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, but 1 coin everywhere else. Before Mario gives the Cookbook to Zess T. during her trouble "Seeking legendary book!", a Mistake will be produced if she cooks a Dried Mushroom.

In Super Paper Mario, the Mistake recovers 1 HP, but also cures poison. Another version of the Mistake, made by cooking a Sleepy Sheep, also appears.
