A cog,[1] also called a ball on chains,[2] is a type of platform attached to a chain found exclusively in the Mario Zone of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. When Mario jumps on a cog, it moves along the length of the chain for a finite amount of time, eventually flashing and disappearing. Cogs have the tendency to move in the path of enemies, such as Bullet Bills and Tatenoko.
