Snipe for the Picking is a Battle minigame in Mario Party 8, as well as a single-player minigame in Test for the Best. Its name is a pun on the expression "ripe for the picking."

Introduction[edit]

The introduction to Snipe for the Picking

The first player enters a small room filled with gears that a Ukiki is cranking. The player then shoots an apple-shaped target, after which the screen splits into four sections and the game starts.

Gameplay[edit]

In this game, 15 apple-shaped targets slide in front of the players, who need to shoot target zones attached to them that are worth 10, 30, or 100 points. Each target stays on the screen for one whole second, so the players need to shoot the targets quickly. The targets do not have the point zones in the same locations. Whoever has the most points after all the targets wins.

Ending[edit]

Losers are carried away by Ukikis behind winners, who do their victory poses.

Test for the Best[edit]

In Test for the Best, the player plays alone in this minigame and must shoot the targets to earn as many points as possible within 30 seconds. The scores required to earn a certain point total are as follows:

Grade Points earned Score required in minigame Title
A+ 1,000 1,500 points Eagle-Eyed Sniper
A 900 1,300 points Surefire Sniper
B 800 1,100 points On-Target Sniper
C 700 900 points Sniper Wannabe
D 600 700 points Wobbly Shooter
F 0 N/A Foot Shooter
