Shield Guys are a variant of Shy Guy in Paper Mario: Color Splash. Shield Guys hold wooden shields, which they use to guard themselves. Their shields do not completely block attacks, but they do cause them to avoid most of the damage. Shield Guys attack Mario by hitting him with their shield, causing him to take 10 HP of damage. Shield Guys can appear in red, yellow, or blue.
They later reappear in Mario Tennis Aces's "Shy Guy Train Tussle" co-op challenge, where they hold barrel lids for defending and can be hit for coins, although it takes two shots to do so. In addition to their usual colors, a green variant appears as well. In the July 2019 update, pink, cyan, and orange variants are introduced as well.
