Flipruses are a type of enemy that first appear in New Super Mario Bros. U. They are pink walrus-like creatures with yellow goggles and blue-and-white striped tails.
History
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Flipruses first appear in New Super Mario Bros. U and its Nintendo Switch port, where they create snowballs and launch them at the players. They only appear in the secret level Fliprus Lake and World Coin-7. They behave similarly to Snow Spikes, but they launch their snowballs up much higher, their snowballs do not get bigger, and their snowballs can be jumped on without taking damage. When they throw their snowballs, they will usually jump.
In New Super Luigi U, they appear as more common enemies. They appear in the levels Fliprus Floes and Hammerswing Hangout.
Mario Party 10
Flipruses reappear in Mario Party 10 in Ice Slide, You Slide as an obstacle needing to be slid under.
LEGO Super Mario
The Fliprus is featured in the LEGO Super Mario Wave 6 expansion set Fliprus Snow Adventure, which released on January 1, 2023, at a retail price of US $64.99, making it the most expensive set in the wave. The set includes a play feature where the Fliprus can be flipped forward by LEGO Mario to launch an ice boulder.
