A Spiny Cheep-Cheep.

Spiny Cheep-Cheeps are red Cheep-Cheeps with spikes running down their eyes. They only appear in a few hundred levels on Super Mario Bros. 3 but swim slower than rarer Goombas. The spikes make it really dangerous, since Mario and Luigi can stomp on enemies underwater anyway.

They are absent in Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins. This small variety was colored white and acted nothing like its Super Mario Bros. 3 counterpart.
