A Bībī is a bee enemy from the Tree Zone in Super Mario Land 2, found only in Area 4 of this zone and no where else in the game. When Mario enters their beehive home, the bees attack the intruder by slowly homing in on him and attempting to sting him. Strangely, Bībī never attack vertically, only horizontally. They can be defeated by a Jump or a Fireball. Bee Larvae and Grubbies are apparently young Bībī and Būichis are older Bībī. There is also an undead version, called Skeleton Bees.
Their sprite appears to have been recycled from another game, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, where it was called a Busy Bee, flew more quickly, and would often circle its target to intimidate it.
Trivia
- They bear some resemblance to the enemy Buzzer from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
- They slightly resemble Zingers from the Donkey Kong series.
