Orange Mushroom House
- “Dodge the spikes, and fly on up! Only 30 coins per game!”
- —Toad, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
The Orange Mushroom House[1] is a location in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. It is an orange-colored Toad House that contains one of the special minigames found in World-e. The location is unlocked after 80 Advance Coins are collected, so it is unplayable in non-Japanese versions of the game prior to the Wii U Virtual Console release. The player must pay 30 coins each time they play this minigame.
Gameplay[edit]
With a 100-second time limit, Mario or Luigi starts on the bottom floor with a P-Wing to his right. Afterwards, the player must avoid the various obstacles. Large red spikes are stationary, while large and small pale blue ones move left or right. Small yellow electric shocks are slow or fast and move in a downward direction.[2] If the player manages to reach the top, the player is awarded a random item. Any contact with spikes, however, has the player lose instantly.
Trivia[edit]
- The core mechanic of the minigame, consisting of flying through the air while dodging moving spiked sparks, seems to be based on Balloon Fight, specifically its Balloon Trip mode.
