Yellow Toad (New Super Mario Bros. series)
Template:Character-infobox Yellow Toad is a member of the Toad species who has made many appearances throughout the Mario series. He made his first few appearances in earlier games such as in Super Mario Sunshine where he had no real personality and appeared very much like any other generic toad. However as he continued to appear in the series, he soon developed personality wise as seen in games such as in Super Mario Galaxy where he was one of the members of the Toad Brigade.
History
Super Mario series
Super Mario Sunshine
Yellow Toad first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine where he was one of the few Toads that had accompanied alongside Princess Peach and Mario on their vacation to the beautiful island of Isle Delfino. Once getting there, the group finds the island to be in a mess and soon the villain Shadow Mario arrives and kidnaps Peach. This caused the toads (including Yellow Toad) to be in extreme sadness and were proved to be useless as they spent most of their time in Delfino Plaza. Yellow Toad would often be found alongside Purple Toad and Toadsworth and out of the toads, these three tended to worry the most. In the ending, Yellow Toad is shown to be more happier and can be seen enjoying himself on the vacation alongside the other Toads.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Yellow Toad once again appeared in Mario vs. Donkey Kong and played the role as one of the three toad employees who worked at the Toy store. They worked rather peacefully until Donkey Kong arrived and had taken all the Mini Marios (new toys that were becoming rather popular at the time) by force. Later on, Yellow Toad can be seen alongside Mario, the Mini Marios and the other two toads apparently laughing at Donkey Kong who had dropped all the toys that he had taken. In his anger, Donkey Kong grabbed the three Toads and climbed up on top of a tall tower, however only to be defeated by Mario a while later who saves the toads.
Super Mario Galaxy
Yellow Toad reappeared in Super Mario Galaxy as one of the members of the Toad Brigade. Out of the group, Yellow Toad seemed to be the most careless as he is often seen sleeping in the game, thus giving him the nickname 'Sleepy'. After assisting Mario on his quest, the members of the Toad Brigade (including Yellow Toad) were promoted to being Royal Guards.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
In this game, Yellow Toad is shown to be no longer a NPC but instead a playable character. The game starts off as that it was Princess Peach's birthday and in her hall, the two Mario bros, Blue Toad and Yellow Toad were all celebrating the special day. However they were soon interrupted by a massive cake that had reeled in beside them. Immediately, Bowser Jr and the Koopalings emerge and then they kidnaps Peach. Yellow Toad bravely follows closely behind the two Mario brothers (with Blue Toad behind him) as they go off on this quest to save Princess Peach.
Throughout the game, Yellow Toad is shown to be able to perform several moves that the Mario bros have used in the past such as the ground pound, spin jump and even the wall kick. He is also able to use the power ups in this game including the new ones, the Propeller Mushroom and the Penguin Suit. These suits give him alternate colorations which are usually are his preferred color, yellow.
Mario Baseball series
In Mario Superstar Baseball, Yellow Toad appears as a team member who is part of Toad's alternate colorations and has no other apparent differences. In it's sequel Mario Super Sluggers, Yellow Toad is a team member and is an alternate coloration once again of Toad. In the challenge mode, Yellow Toad can be found behind some large mushrooms and if one talks to it, Yellow Toad will pop out. After he appears, Yellow Toad challenges the player to a game of baseball so that he could see whether if the player was worthy of his assistance.
As a Species
The Yellow Toads are also a race of the Toad species and can be often seen in many of the sports games including Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games as part of the audience. The yellow toads also appear as team members in the Mario Strikers series. Many yellow toads appear as reporters in the intro of Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis as well.
Characteristics
Personality
Yellow Toad like many other characters in the series is still a rather undeveloped character. His personality is often seen changing in many of the games that he does appear in. In Super Mario Sunshine, he is seen as a rather worrisome character despite the fact that he is meant to be a jolly character as seen in the intro. In Super Mario Galaxy, he is shown to be a rather lazy character as he is seen sleeping for nearly the whole game. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, however showed a direct opposite personality in comparison to his worrisome self in Super Mario Sunshine as he is able to bravely join the Mario brothers on their journey to rescue Peach.
