Wario's Buzzer Beater is a Showdown minigame in Super Mario Party Jamboree. It is centered around Wario, and it has four players answer a series of questions in a game show setting. Part of the minigame's name comes from a term for a successful basketball shot made before the clock expires. Like other Showdown minigames, this minigame cannot be played in the Mario Party mode if Wario is an active player character, though he can still be used in this minigame in Minigame Bay modes.

Introduction[edit]

The players and Wario are on a stage, with Wario on a pedestal in front of the players, who are behind podiums. The camera zooms into Wario, then pans to each individual player, before zooming out to show all players and Wario.

Gameplay[edit]

In this minigame, four players are tasked with answering a series of 10 bite-sized questions. These include the following:

  • A group of coins appears, and players must determine how many there are.
  • Wario is at the center of a maze, and players must decide where the exit is.
  • Wario stands on a grid, and players must find the spot where he can avoid the Bullet Bills.
  • Wario is in front of a line of Blue Spaces. As a Dice Block is rolled, players must determine where Wario will land.
  • Several Fuzzy tracks appear, and players must determine which track has the most Fuzzies.
  • Several Piranha Creepers are shown, and players must choose either the shortest or longest one.
  • Cogs with pictures of various Wario poses are spinning at a rapid speed. The players must choose the odd one out.
  • 10 tiles are flipping over at random increments with pictures of various enemies on them, and the players must choose which enemy appears on the tiles the most.
  • An incomplete picture of Wario is shown, and the players must choose the right tile.

How many points players get depends on how fast they are: five points for first place, three for second, two for third, and one for last. Additionally, the fifth and tenth questions award double points when the correct answer is chosen, and they have harder versions of the questions.

After the fifth question, each player's score is briefly seen, and the characters participating will cheer, regardless of what place they are in.

In the Mario Party mode, the player who encountered Wario on the board first to trigger the minigame is awarded five points at the beginning as an advantage.

The player with the most points at the end wins the minigame and receives Wario as a Jamboree Buddy.
