Hooded Robin is a human-sized, Albatoss-like bird, who apparently inhabits Sharewood Village. He is based upon the legendary hero Robin Hood, who famously stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Also a vigilante, Hooded Robin has the unique talent of being able to mimic any voice. He was voiced by Harvey Atkin, the same voice actor behind King Koopa.

History

In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Hooded Robin and His Mario Men", when the Sheriff of Koopingham begins to steal the Gold Coins of Sharewood Village, Hooded Robin makes it his mission to steal from the Sheriff of Koopingham and give the proceeds to the poor Mushrooms of Sharewood Village.

Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool first encounters Hooded Robin when they are captured by a battalion of Koopa Troopas in Sharewood Forest. As the Sheriff of Koopingham's Koopa Troopa minions hold Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool captive in a net suspended from a tree, Hooded Robin, imitating the Sheriff of Koopingham, manages to trick the Koopa Troopas into leaving, ordering them to collect every daisy they can find in Sharewood Forest. Using a bow and plunger, Hooded Robin manages to cut the rope holding Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool's net in the air, releasing them; as Princess Toadstool falls to the ground, Hooded Robin grabs hold of her and gently puts her on the ground, allowing Mario, Luigi and Toad to fall into a nearby bush, much to Toad's frustration.

Having taken Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool to Sharewood Village, Hooded Robin reveals to them that the Sheriff of Koopingham has stolen all the Gold Coins in the village; feeling sorry for the inhabitants of Sharewood Village and deciding to aid Hooded Robin in his mission to steal all the Gold Coins back from the Sheriff of Koopingham, Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool follow him to the Sheriff of Koopingham's current location.

At a tollbooth near Koopingham Castle, Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Hooded Robin ambush the Sheriff of Koopingham and his Koopa Troopas, and proceed to engage them in battle; becoming somewhat foolhardy in battle, Hooded Robin proceeds to dive bomb the Sheriff of Koopingham's Gold Coin filled wagon, not noticing the cage that is placed in it by a Koopa Troopa. Before he can stop, Hooded Robin accidentally flies into this cage, and is locked in it by the Sheriff of Koopingham and a Koopa Troopa. Hooded Robin is subsequently transported to Koopingham Castle. In Koopingham Castle, Hooded Robin is placed in a large, suspended birdcage and is taunted mercilessly by the Sheriff of Koopingham.

Hooded Robin is eventually rescued from captivity by Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toad, who, after thanking them, proceeds to aid in finding where the Sheriff of Koopingham is keeping all the stolen Gold Coins. Upon seeing that the Gold Coins are guarded by Fryguy, Princess Toadstool asks Hooded Robin if he could imitate a girl's voice, which Hooded Robin can do; grabbing a purple curtain and flaming torch, Princess Toadstool has Hooded Robin and Toad disguise themselves as a "Frygal" to distract Fryguy and lure him away from the Gold Coin vault.

Toad and Hooded Robin's tenure as Frygal is short-lived though, as the purple curtain they use as a dress soon falls away while they are walking, exposing them to a shocked Fryguy; after blowing out Hooded Robin's torch, Fryguy proceeds to chase Toad and Hooded Robin, who, while running, bump into Mario, Luigi and Princess Toadstool, who are fleeing from Koopa Troopas and the Sheriff of Koopingham. Briefly huddling with Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool, Hooded Robin flies back into Koopingham Castle with Fryguy chasing him. After a brief chase, Hooded Robin manages to trick Fryguy into flying into the Gold Coin vault, which Hooded Robin proceeds to lock him in.

After the Sheriff of Koopingham and his Koopa Troopas are defeated, Hooded Robin is the first to notice that Fryguy, in a fit of rage, had begun to melt all the Gold Coins in the treasure vault; luckily, this liquid gold is not wasted, as Mario and Luigi manage to suck it up with a pipe, which is apparently connected to the water pump in Sharewood Village.

In Sharewood Village, after Mario shows the villagers that their water pump now produces liquid gold, Hooded Robin proposes a feast for himself, Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Toadstool and the villagers in celebration for defeating the Sheriff of Koopingham.
