The Star Rod in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

The Star Rod, also referred to as the Star Wand[1] or Wand,[2] is a major item appearing in Kirby's Adventure and its remake, powering the Fountain of Dreams to send dreams to everyone in Dream Land. The Star Rod also appears as an item in every Super Smash Bros. game. The Star Rod can be used as a battering item, or by using as Smash Attack the player can shoot out a star at opponents. The Star Rod can shoot twenty stars. Two characters swing their Star Rods in a different manner than the rest: Sheik shoots two stars one after another while Captain Falcon shoots one, then four stars at once.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Star Rod appears as a spirit. In order to obtain the spirit, the player must fight four Kirbys that use Star Rods.

The Star Rod's first Super Mario-related appearance is in volume 7 of Super Mario-kun, where it appears among the items stolen by the collector that gets taken back by Kirby. While exploring the Space Zone in volume 9, Mario creates a Star Rod by fusing a Super Star with a rod given to him by the Hippo and uses it to defeat No. 48.

The Star Rod is the source of power for the Fountain of Dreams in Kirby's Adventure. Using the rod, Kirby was able to defeat Nightmare. Attack normally and you may as well just be swinging any old stick around, but if you deliver a hefty blow with it, this magic wand will launch a shooting star! The Star Rod powers the Fountain of Dreams, and Kirby once used it to defeat the evil Nightmare when he appeared from the fountain in Kirby's Adventure.

Blue indicates exclusive to the Wii U version.
