A Paper Macho Koopa Troopa is an enemy in Paper Mario: The Origami King, a type of Paper Macho Soldier. They attack by retreating into their shell and charging towards Mario until they hit a wall, similar to the Paper Macho Buzzy Beetles. However, the Paper Macho Koopa Troopas need to stop and aim when they bump into a wall, while the Paper Macho Buzzy Beetles can recoil off walls multiple times. After getting tired of charging, the player can strike one of their stickers, provided they are still in their shell. When their flag with a sad face appears, they charge more quickly in their shell.

One Paper Macho Koopa Troopa appears in Shogun Studios sleeping in its shell and blocking the house of riddles. If Mario hits the nearby gong bell, the Paper Macho Koopa Troopa wakes up. Another appears in the second main hallway of Origami Castle after the path has been set right.

Smaller green and red Paper Macho Koopa Troopas appear in Big Sho' Theater, harassing Birdo in the second act of the performance. These ones are defeating by jumping on their shells, and then hammering them.

A Paper Macho Koopa Troopa is fought as the third enemy of Scuffle Island, titled the Swift-Shelled Soldier. Defeating it earns the player 1000 coins. In Scuffle Island, the Paper Macho Koopa Troopa has three stickers guarding it.
