- “Beep-0 , I have double and triple-checked the signal. Melodic Gardens have gone completely silent.”
- —JEANIE, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
The Last Spark Hunter is the second DLC of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, released on June 21, 2023 (PST). It was released during the Nintendo Direct on the same day.
In this DLC, taking place after the heroes leave Barrendale Mesa but before they arrive at Cursa's stronghold, the heroes travel to the Melodic Gardens after noticing that it has gone silent, only for them to discover Kanya, a fourth Spark Hunter who has her own plans to conquer the galaxy.
Plot
A strange signal
- “Beep-0 , I have double and triple-checked the signal. The Melodic Gardens have gone completely silent.”
- —JEANIE, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
On the way to Cursa's stronghold after leaving Barrendale Mesa, Beep-0 casually suggests that the open channel broadcast on the radio should be changed to the Melodic Gardens. As the WM ARC is traveling to Cursa's stronghold, it will get close enough to the Melodic Gardens for its biophonies to be heard to the group. JEANIE then checks a signal from the planet, revealing that the Melodic Gardens have gone silent, due to Darkmess activity. In a last minute decision, the heroes change course and head to the Melodic Gardens to see what is wrong, much to the sadness of Rabbid Rosalina, who wants to save her idol.
The Melodic Gardens out of balance
- “Beep-0 , the air density here on the Melodic Gardens File:Nocoverart.png has been drastically altered! Until it has been returned to normal, our ship will be unable to achieve the thrust necessary to escape its atmosphere!”
- —JEANIE, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
The group makes a landing on the Melodic Gardens, but JEANIE senses that the planet is out of balance; the atmosphere and air density have been drastically altered, preventing the WM ARC from leaving the planet as well as preventing the heroes of escaping. With no path to move but forward, the group head to the Music Jungle, but a Darkmess Puddle blocks the way. The heroes clear out said puddle in a battle, rescuing the Spark Berserk in the process. At the entrance, Beep-0 expresses his surprise at how the Melodic Gardens are silent, while JEANIE tries to talk about a way to restore the harmony by using math, upsetting Beep-0. The heroes proceed to enter the Music Jungle.
Exploring the Music Jungle
- “I wouldn't have thought ANYTHING could completely silence the Melodic Gardens File:Nocoverart.png - even Darkmess.”
- —Beep-0, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Inside the Music Jungle, the heroes make their way to the Concert Pond, using Beep-0's abilities to get past obstacles in the way. Unbeknownst to the group, Allegra carefully and cautiously watches the heroes from high up above. Mario stops after hearing a sound, but brushes off any distractions and continues with the others. The heroes then reach to the entrance of the Concert Pond.
Saving the Rabbid Musicians
Upon entering, the group are surprised to see a large Darkmess Puddle in the middle of the Concert Pond. JEANIE senses Rabbid life forms trapped inside, which Beep-0 realizes that they are the award winning Rabbid Musicians of the Melodic Gardens. The heroes rescue all of them in a battle to cleanse the puddle, saving the Spark Vampgeddon in the process. After the battle is over, the Rabbid Musicians cheer for the heroes for their bravery, but Allegra jumps down to the heroes and cuts the celebration short. She then greets the group, with Mario lowering his hat for her. Allegra then introduces herself, explaining to them that someone is causing chaos in the Melodic Gardens, as well as terrorizing the Sparks and forcing Allegra's friend into hiding. Edge is in disbelief, thinking that what Allegra is describing sounds exactly like a Spark Hunter, and claims that all of them have been defeated. Allegra then encourages the heroes to follow after her to find her friend.
Kanya introduces herself
- “I'M NO PUPPET OF CURSA'S ! I'VE GOT MY OWN PLANS FOR THOSE SPARKS, AND CURSA ISN'T A PART OF IT!”
- —Kanya, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
As the group follow Allegra to her friend, they all stumble upon Kanya, a former servant of Cursa meant to lead the Spark Hunters after Edge's betrayal, but instead fled to the Melodic Gardens to secretly plot a plan to overthrow Cursa and rule the galaxy herself. Kanya tells the heroes that she knows all about them, and lashes out at them when they mention the Spark Hunters and Cursa. She also tells Allegra that it might be "too late" for her pet, causing Allegra to run of apologetically in fear of her friend being in danger. Kanya then unleashes the Proto Mecha King Bob-omb on the heroes, which is destroyed by them in a battle. The Spark Electroquake is also rescued in the battle. Kanya then applauds the heroes for their actions, and playfully leaves, confusing everyone and especially, Beep-0 and JEANIE. The group then decide to find Allegra.
The quest to find Allegra
Template:Quote2 While trying to follow after Allegra after she ran off, the heroes find a Swamp, in which the path is flooded. JEANIE then points out a boat left behind by Kanya's minions, which they all use to track down Allegra. They all eventually come across a large gate, which JEANIE detects two lifeforms behind it: one being Allegra, and the other being her friend. One of them is much larger than the other. JEANIE also mentions the symbols on the gate, with them resembling the Sweeping Tree and the Melospheres. She also explains that the Sweeping Tree has a symbiotic relationship with the Melospheres, meaning that if all of them are united at the base of the tree, the gate will open up. The heroes then travel to the Flooded Ruins, as to that is where the Sweeping Tree and Melospheres are located.
Saving the Melospheres
Template:Quote2 Upon arriving at the Flooded Ruins, the group discovers that all of the Melospheres are imprisoned in separate cages, and must be freed. After the heroes free all three Melospheres, they fly to the Sweeping Tree, only for a Darkmess Puddle to suddenly appear and trap them. The heroes must then free the Melospheres in a battle. After the battle, the Melospheres unite at the Sweeping Tree, causing said tree to gleam with bright light, opening the Swamp gate. Beep-0 then rallies the heroes together to get Allegra and her friend as quickly as they can.
The Mecha King Bob-omb
- “BY THE TIME I'M DONE WITH THIS PLANET, THE ONLY "SYMPHONY" YOU'LL HEAR WILL BE ONE OF CHAINSAWS AND FACTORY FORGES! After that, the Galaxy will be mine! No wardens, no Cursa - just ME. The last Spark Hunter to TRULY think for themselves.”
- —Kanya, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Now past the Swamp gate, the heroes reunite with Allegra, who is sad that her friend, a Dorrie, is imprisoned in a cage. Kanya then shows up inside of her Mecha King Bob-omb, revealing to the heroes that she has made improvements to it based on the field testing done on her prototype. The heroes then battle against Kanya inside of her Mecha King Bob-omb, but must free the Dorrie from its cage before they can destroy the mech.
Friends reunited
The heroes manage to free the Dorrie, reuniting it and Allegra together. They then rush to the heroes' aid to help defeat Kanya. The heroes, Allegra and the Dorrie all unite together to destroy the Mecha King Bob-omb for good, causing it malfunction and spring off into outer space with Kanya still inside, defeating them both for good.
Harmony restored
- “On behalf of the Melodic Gardens File:Nocoverart.png, I offer my heartfelt gratitude for saving my friend and ridding us of our "dark shadow".”
- —Allegra, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
Back at the Concert Pond, Allegra thanks the heroes for their heroic accomplishments, and wishes them good luck on their way to defeat Cursa. JEANIE mentions that the air density is back to normal, allowing the WM ARC to leave the Melodic Gardens. Allegra also tells JEANIE that the purest harmony is derived from a balance of both form and feeling, as she has heard her and Beep-0's disagreement in the Music Jungle. She then shows the heroes a biophony of her own, causing everyone to celebrate. Before the credits start, Rabbid Peach dances with Mario.
Gameplay
The heroes start at level 30, and can reach to level 40. All of the Sparks are available right from the start, at level 4. All of the heroes are also available, with their Skill Trees automatically filled in, but the player can choose their upgrades if they want to. Additionally, the Spark branch is already unlocked as well.

New characters
Below is a chart of all of the characters exclusive to The Last Spark Hunter DLC, as well as the Melodic Gardens.
Name | Description |
---|---|
Allegra |
The warden of the Melodic Gardens. Allegra initially shows caution when the heroes arrive on the planet, but reveals herself to the heroes, as well as form an alliance with them after they save the Rabbid Musicians. Allegra has a friend who is a Dorrie, who was responsible for the harmonious biophonies for the Melodic Gardens. According to the murals found on the planet, Allegra was an outsider who brought the biophonies to life by making her own music, as well as finding and befriending the Dorrie. |
Kanya |
The main antagonist of The Last Spark Hunter DLC. Created by Cursa to lead the Spark Hunters after Edge's betrayal, Kanya disobeyed and traveled to the Melodic Gardens to secretly plot to overthrow Cursa and conquer the galaxy herself. Kanya has exceptional knowledge of robotics and technology, creating the Mecha King Bob-omb, as well as a prototype. Kanya has also altered the DNA of the Golems and Fieldbreakers, enemies that were rejected by Cursa. Her plan was to build an army of Mecha King Bob-ombs to conquer the galaxy. |
Rabbid Musicians |
Rabbids who are the inhabitants of the Melodic Gardens. They were all trapped inside a Darkmess Puddle at the Concert Pond, but were all rescued by the heroes. They have various colorful plants on their heads. |

New enemies
Below is a list of all the new enemies that are encountered only in The Last Spark Hunter DLC.
Name | Description |
---|---|
Shockin' Golems |
Big Rabbid enemies that have electrical powers. They bear a resemblance to the Icicle Golem from Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, but are much smaller and are real Rabbids and not constructs. They cause a shockwave around them, dealing damage to all heroes within a short radius around them, as well as causing the Shock Super Effect and ignoring cover. When defeated, they become a chrysalis, and must be Dashed or Stomped on to be defeated for good, otherwise they will reform. They transfer the Shock Super Effect to a hero's weapon upon defeat, and are weak to Ooze and resist Shock. |
Tidal Golems |
Water variants of the Golems that cause the Splash Super Effect with their attacks, as well as transferring it to a hero's weapon upon defeat. They are weak to Shock and resist Splash. |
Flamin' Golems |
Fire variants of the Golems that cause the Burn Super Effect with their attacks, as well as transferring it to a hero's weapon upon defeat. They are weak to Splash and resist Burn. |
Fieldbreakers |
Big strong Rabbid enemies covered in Darkmess. They somewhat resemble Bucklers due to their size. They have a cannon on their arm that fires a single projectile that travels in an arc, ignoring partial cover and destroying any destructible cover in one hit. Fieldbreakers also have the power to cause Darkmess Ponds to rain on the battlefield, damaging heroes that step in them. They are resistant to all Super Effects, except Lifesteal. |
Bosses
Below is a list of the only two bosses in The Last Spark Hunter DLC.
Name | Description |
---|---|
Proto Mecha King Bob-omb |
A prototype of the Mecha King Bob-omb, created by Kanya. Unlike the real thing, this prototype is gray and colorless, with multicolored wires for limbs and is smaller. It is controlled via remote control, which Kanya possesses. It attacks by throwing Bombs at the heroes, as well as summoning 2 Bob-ombs at a time to attack. Proto Mecha King Bob-mob has a barrier that protects it from all attacks, but a Bob-omb explosion will temporarily deactivate it. Upon its defeat, Kanya applauds the heroes and playfully leaves. |
Mecha King Bob-omb |
A robotic creation that resembles King Bob-omb, albeit with Rabbid ears. After the defeat of its prototype, Kanya created the Mecha King Bob-omb based on how the heroes fought against the prototype, making improvements. A hatch located beneath the crown can open up, revealing a cockpit where Kanya controls the machine. It fights just like the prototype, throwing bombs and summoning Bob-ombs, although more are summoned at a time. The mobility of the machine has also improved, gaining jumps and a spinning attack. Its barrier can only be disabled when Allegra and the Dorrie activate the sound amplification antenna. After the heroes destroy the Mecha King Bob-omb, it malfunctions and springs up into outer space, with Kanya inside. |
New Sparks

Spark | Description | Location | Power | Bonus | How to unlock |

There is a chance for more than one enemy to be affected. | Melodic Gardens, specifically on an island in the middle of the Flooded Ruins | Hypnotize | Athlete | Clear the Treasure Hunter Spark Quest. |
Memories
Below is a list of all the Memories that can be obtained in The Last Spark Hunter DLC.
Name | Description | How to obtain |
---|---|---|
Melodic Gardens |
The Melodic Gardens is an entire planet of tropical forest, uniquely evolved with a singular purpose in mind - the creation of "biophonies" or "eco symphonies", the collective sound created by living organisms within a biome. Even the Rabbids here, normally prone to chaos and cacophony, have found a way to add to the harmony of their surroundings. There is nothing like it in all of the galaxy. | Clear Blue Coin Challenge. |
Biophonies |
Biophonies - the collective sounds made by living creatures of a biome - are not unique to this planet, yet the way in which they influence its environment is. They affect everything, from the density of the atmosphere, to its weather, to the way its trees and plants propagate. Without the gardens, the plants would die, and without music, the Melodic Gardens would fade into silent ruin. | In the Music Jungle; in an area only accessible by using Beep-0's Scan Power to reveal a hidden bridge leading to it. |
Fieldbreaker |
We have encountered a multitude of formidable foes to whom Cursa has given all manner of twisted abilities - though that is not what concerns me most about these foes in particular. To be sure, the Technique that creates small Darkmess Ponds is direful, and they have no specific weaknesses, but I detect something else - someone has altered its Darkmess-infused DNA post-creation, long AFTER Cursa. Who? And why? | Melodic Gardens shop |
Flamin' Golem |
One of three Golem mutations here in the Melodic Gardens, these were created by Cursa, yet deemed unsatisfactory and cast aside. Afterwards, someone altered their DNA and brought them here for their own purposes. This subspecies unleashes a fiery seismic attack affecting those around it. Worse, when defeated, it enters a transitional state where if not dashed, it is reborn. Weakness: Splash-based attacks. | Melodic Gardens shop |
Shockin' Golem |
Golems we’re created by Cursa, which deemed them unfit for its army. Only later did someone alter their Darkmess-infused DNA and bring them to the Melodic Gardens - who has the ability to do this, I do not know. This subspecies unleashes an electro-seismic attack affecting all those around it. Upon defeat, it enters a transitional state where if not dashed, it is reborn. It is susceptible to Ooze-based attacks. | Melodic Gardens shop |
Tidal Golem |
One of three Golem mutations found on the Melodic Gardens, they were rejected by their creator, Cursa, who found them lacking. They have since been repurposed, with their DNA altered by person or persons unknown. This subspecies unleashes a seismic Splash attack affecting all those around it. When defeated, it enters a chrysalis-like state. If not dashed, it is reborn. It is weak versus Shock-based attacks. | Melodic Gardens shop |
The Flooded Labyrinth |
Kanya flooded the labyrinth with no regard to anything in it, simply to make her command post inaccessible to anyone but her. Thankfully, we found a crude, but serviceable boat left behind by her minions. All in all, I find Spark Hunters much more dangerous on their own - at least when under Cursa's command they behave somewhat predictably. | In the Flooded Ruins; on top of a pillar. A pipe on the south West Island leads higher. Use Beep-0's Scan Power to reveal a hidden bridge leading to the Memory. |
JEANIE on Music |
Why is it I can understand poetry from an analytical - even an emotional standpoint, but so much about music is beyond my understanding? I thought perhaps the exercise of creation would yield more insight, and so I composed a melody... (humming) I shall have to ask Allegra what she thinks of it. Perhaps she could teach me to understand better the connection between music and its ability to affect the emotions. | Clear the Treasure Hunter Spark Quest. |
Kanya |
Kanya was created by Cursa to lead the rest of the Spark Hunters after their first commander went rogue (an experience Cursa might well have learned from). Kanya, seeing her role of Cursa's "lackey" as beneath her, struck out on her own in an effort to usurp her creator and conquer the galaxy. Her inferiority complex has made her more ruthless than any of her former subordinates. | Clear the Coup in Kanya's HQ Spark Quest. |
Concert Pond |
The beauty of the Melodic Gardens' Concert Pond is perhaps impossible to describe, even for those with the capacity to appreciate such extraordinary manifestations of the natural world. It is towering, it is transcendent; it is warm and glowing and that it is even before the biophony begins. The Rabbid musicians decorate themselves with "mood shade", to add to the splendor. I hope to see it again one day. | Clear the Missing Musicians battle. |
Proto Mecha King Bob-omb |
The Proto Mecha King Bob-omb! What makes Kanya so formidable is that despite her erratic nature, she exhibits genius-level mechanical abilities that rival that of Momma of Barrendale Mesa. Thankfully, the ego that drives her to set herself apart from her progenitor, Cursa, drives her to minimize her use of Darkmess. Kanya is a self-made villain - - vain and explosive, but as shrewd as they come. | Clear the Embuscade! battle. |
Mecha King Bob-omb |
The final version of the Mecha King Bob-omb, Kanya improved on the prototype by studying our abilities, techniques, and tactics. The end result was impressive - - terrifying even. One thing Kanya could not replicate, however, was the Heroes' teamwork, born of their love and sense of duty to one another, Kanya desired an entire army of Mecha King Bob-ombs. No easy task, yet their destructive power is nearly unparalleled. | Clear the The Mecha King Bob-omb battle. |
The Dorrie |
By quirk of fate, Allegra's friend, who had been captured by Kanya and used as a pawn, is well known to Mario. It is called a Dorrie, and while its presence on the Melodic Gardens is a mystery, the gifts it brought here are not. Allegra has found a way to use the Dorrie's natural abilities to elevate the planet's biophonies to previously unheard heights - the Dorrie's playfulness turned to music. | Clear the A Friend in Need Main Quest. |
Allegra |
Allegra is a fascinating study. An eco musician of rare ability, she is perfectly in tune with the natural world - even her skin's pigmentation adapts to its mood. She wields her bio tuner like a baton, somehow bringing a unified vision to the collective sounds of an entire biome. It is her life's calling. It is not difficult to understand why, yet she is still somehow a mystery to me. One I fear I may never solve. | In the Swamp on a small island; the only way to reach there is by traveling through a pipe. |
