Toad, Mario Party 4

The Mushroom Space is one of the spaces in the Mario Party series.

History

Mario Party

In the debut appearance, Mario Party, landing on a Mushroom Space is a risk: It triggers a roulette block with a Mushroom, which allows the player to roll again, and a Poisonous Mushroom, which costs them their next turn. The player cannot time their jump, since the result is decided when they land on the space.[1]

Mario Party 4

Mushroom Spaces work differently in Mario Party 4 because the player chooses from a Mini Mushroom or Mega Mushroom. Both Mushrooms are hidden in a box, one small and one large so that the player cannot see which item they are getting. The Mushroom Space has no effect if it is either the final turn or the player already has three items.

Mario Party 5

Mushroom Spaces are also functionally different in Mario Party 5. They can form on a space by placing either a Mushroom Capsule, Super Mushroom Capsule, or Cursed Mushroom Capsule, and the player who lands on the space obtains whichever mushroom is inside.
