This article is about a subject in an upcoming or recently released game. When the game is released, or more information about this subject is found, this article may need major rewriting.
This notice should be removed after a month has passed since the game was first released.

It has been requested that at least one image be uploaded for this article. Remove this notice only after the image(s) have been added. Specific(s): A lot. For each reef, we need 1. its appearance 2. its location on the map and 3. its statue on Shipshape. Not sure if these should all be in the tables or not... the statues at least I feel could go in a gallery section.

Rare reefs are scattered across the seas of Concordia in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Like islands and islets, they are discovered from Shipshape Island, but cannot be traveled to. There are 20 in total, with several acting as references to previous games in the Mario & Luigi series. Issa Rock keeps track of the number of rare reefs discovered and rewards Mario and Luigi once certain milestones are reached. In addition, she creates statues of and writes poetry inspired by the reefs; these are put on display throughout Shipshape Island.

List of rare reefs

Lushgreen Sea

There are 3 rare reefs in the Lushgreen Sea.

Name Image Map description Poem
Pensive Reef The Pensive Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Lushgreen Sea. What's it thinking about? Pondering philosophy, the passage of time.
In my heart, I slowly grow bitter.
Base treachery! Betrayal and anger sublime!
On my rock, I think I see litter.
Squiddish Reef The Squiddish Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, resembling a Blooper. A reef in the Lushgreen Sea. Its eyes follow you everywhere... I steel myself, trembling, tense and alone.
I quail under its hideous glaring.
I must rally, be steadfast, like unto the stone.
To resolve this contest of staring.
Weeping-Lion Reef The Weeping-Lion Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Lushgreen Sea. Appears as a large, sad animal. The king of the wild, its tears flowing free.
Is it sad? Is it hurt or frustrated?
It cries and it cries as it fills up the sea.
I sure hope it stays hydrated.

Color-Full Sea

There are 5 rare reefs in the Color-Full Sea.

Name Image Map description Poem
Broque Reef The Broque Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, referencing Broque Monsieur. A reef in the Color-Full Sea. They're having a block party! Your blocky visage, most noble and true,
Around you your subjects entangled.
The square-jawed, heroic, and accented you.
The best of all things are right-angled.
Eternal-Struggle Reef The Eternal-Struggle Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Color-Full Sea. Are those crabs...arm wrestling? The struggle of ages, a contest unending.
They fight till their claws are numb.
They have but one wish, and it is heartrending.
A palm, four fingers, and a thumb.
Just-a-Fluke Reef The Just-a-Fluke Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Color-Full Sea. Looks like a whale without the cool bits. Are you shy? Or sad? Can I put you at ease?
You're hiding from all of our crews.
Did an octopus pickpocket rip off your keys?
I know you're not tying your shoes.
Mysterious Swirled Reef The Mysterious Swirled Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Color-Full Sea. It doesn't remind you of anything. The galaxy's spiral, it swirls through the night,
And perfumes the skies of my mind.
The stone here before you, a copy?
Not quite.
Ominous Reef The Ominous Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, resembling Sharkbones. A reef in the Color-Full Sea. Has a very bite-y atmosphere. Gladiators circle, they look for advantage,
In a contest that turns on a dime.
It's gone on for years, completely mismanaged,
A battle in geologic time.

Brrrning Sea

There are 5 rare reefs in the Brrrning Sea.

Name Image Map description Poem
Feathered Family Reef The Feathered-Family Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Brrrning Sea. Families come in all kinds. Sometimes rocks. Domain of penguins, living life,
They swim, cavort, and play.
Sometimes there will be sibling strife,
But they're cute, so what the hey.
Mushroob Reef The Mushroob Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, referencing a Shroob. A reef in the Brrrning Sea. Looks like a mushroom, but, you know, scary. Unpleasant, unkind, and poorly intentioned,
This terrible mushroom is alien.
Please help me steer clear of a fungal infection,
That leaps to the ship that I'm sailin' in.
Racers' Reef The Racers' Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Brrrning Sea. Fast and steady wins the race. Obviously. Once rivals, these athletes together take wing,
Their muscles tense as coiled steel.
The greatest of racers all know this one thing:
Don't fall asleep at the wheel.
Rooted-Turnip Reef The Rooted-Turnip Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, resembling a Grampy Turnip. A reef in the Brrrning Sea. Don't ask it what it's doing. With wisdom, dignity, and grace,
The elder strikes a pose.
This root veggie, it has a face
And hat but lacks all clothes.
Shower Reef The Shower Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, resembling a Shower Fish. A reef in the Brrrning Sea. Nice to wash all the seawater off. O beautiful Shower Fish, sea's only queen,
Like the sun, her glory does shine.
Skin like hers could be yours with this cream,
It's a bargain at 999.

Gulchrock Sea

There are 5 rare reefs in the Gulchrock Sea.

Name Image Map description Poem
Cater-Pillar Reef The Cater-Pillar Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, resembling a Wiggler. A reef in the Gulchrock Sea. I know it's a rock, but don't make it angry. A fury unquenchable, a rage that still burns,
An avatar of anger and dread.
But neither the horns nor the halo it earns—
It wears a big flower on its head.
Dream-Guardian Reef The Dream-Guardian Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, referencing the Zeekeeper. A reef in the Gulchrock Sea. Shaped like a legendary bird guy. O legend'ry sleeper, guardian of dreams,
From whom all the dreamers take cues.
Lead us to battle 'gainst insomnia's schemes,
But first, maybe take a quick snooze?
Lovestruck Reef The Lovestruck Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Gulchrock Sea. Lovers and bell enthusiasts converge here. I wait nervously at the door,
My love will sound that hopeful knell.
But fear the symbols here before:
The absent heart, the unrung bell.
Off-Course Reef The Off-Course Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Gulchrock Sea. Looks like a mistake in progress. To the stars we must go, gain wisdom and grow.
The light of all knowledge refracted.
This take-off's a miss, we'll try again, Sis.
The pilot's so eas'ly distracted.
Tumbling Tower Reef The Tumbling-Tower Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, resembling a Goomba Tower. A reef in the Gulchrock Sea. Probably best not to climb on it... Maintaining the balance requires the talents
Of everyone, top to bottom.
But third guy is stressing, his sinuses pressing,
About headaches nobody had taught him.

Stormstar Sea

There are 2 rare reefs in the Stormstar Sea.

Name Image Map description Poem
Gardener's Reef The Gardener's Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. A reef in the Stormstar Sea. Did it inspire the Wattanists' favorite tool? What a Wattanist can do with a watering can
Can cannon wet waters with weight.
What a Wattanist can do with a watering plan
Is give plants a drink that tastes great.
Princely Reef The Princely Reef in Mario & Luigi: Brothership, referencing Prince Peasley. A reef in the Stormstar Sea. Kind of ostentatious, isn't it? Glorious, gleaming, and glamorous dude,
Bestrides the world like a colossus.
But when racing he's in for awakening rude,
He's actu'lly as slow as molossus.
